I hope they at least repaint the ride. It's been a marquee attraction for them, so it would be awesome for them to give it some nice TLC or something. Hopefully we get some type of news at preview day about what they're doing for the ride

Two thoughts about that honestly makes me question that for a few reasons.

Cutback is happening as well and they may want to push that more.

Last year they had Nessie instead of Eire. With that being said, Apollo probably is nowhere near as "classic" as Nessie. I wouldn't venture to guess what will be on the cups this year.

What about *gasp* both?

Go to Ireland and you are guaranteed FF, go to Italy and you are guaranteed Apollo.

That'd be too nice of them. Remember A-B doesn't own em anymore.

Honestly I would be shocked if FF it's on the BG cups it's a much bigger investment both in capital and in being the first of it's kind in both the company and the region so it would make sense to promote it and push it.

WCUSA and BGW always have different cups so I am sure a cutback will be there for them too.

Celtic Fyre opened in 2010, 10 years later it would be 2020... It is 2019
2010 counts as its first year. If you count each year it was in operation, you get 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018. Making 2019 the 10th year it is running.

Same thing applied to HoS; even though 1999 was their first year, 2018 was the 20th season.

That makes absolutely no sense since Apollo and Forest of Fun were grouped in the same sentence. They opened in 1999 and 2009, so clearly BGW wasn't going for "number of seasons." One way or another, the park is wrong- you can't have it both ways.

Edit: What Nicole said.

Well yes. I never said the park is right. I was simply saying Celtic Fyre was the one that was correct. I'm totally aware the park still made a mistake.

Not to defend what may be legitimately viewed as a lack of basic math skills or fact checking their own attractions' history, but I'm inclined to cut them a break on this one.

They clearly said they are celebrating (versus Apollo "turning" 20), and arguably one may celebrate an event early. A whole season may be a celebration of a birthday, even if the attraction opened e.g. mid-summer. Usually I don't see a whole year early, but...

In this case, we have Madrid and who knows what else related to that or random balloon tests tentatively on track for 2020/2021. In any event, probably one or more big attractions, and probably something that Celtic Fyre's "real" anniversary would be lost amongst, given the expected Madrid fanfare. Why not get some mileage out of it now, especially if USAToday gave it props this year? And who knows how long it will run?

They'll plan these three celebrations this year, then Madrid, then balloon, then Sesame Place, whatever... and building on InvadR, Nesse, LeScoot, B-of-Éire, etc. recently. Keep the buzz going year over year so every year seems like something major is going on and the casual public isn't tempted to wait for milestones like Madrid.

Same rationale for FoF... Does it really deserve a birthday celebration like an iconic B&M masterpiece? Not to me. If it is superseded by Sesame Place, why not get some mileage out of it now and remind everyone it's there to create a more receptive audience when/if you do launch Sesame...

Marketing. If miscalculated birthdays drive higher gate entries and help fund new attractions, then Elmo can have his cake and I'll eat it too.
