Whose to say that the park hasn't performed the appropriate off-season work we'd never see until recently, that they have been able to extend the service life?

Also @RocketChk - where was that quote from and, assuming it's about Alpie, what's it's authenticity?

I wouldn’t be surprised if we have seen those attractions listed previously get track sections replaced, but the parks have been doing a very good job at keeping it under wraps.

The quote that RocketChk posted was from a follow up post on screamscape, where he posted screen shots of the emails he received calling into question how much time is left for Kumba. He posted the screenshots as part of a defense on his original posts calling into question how much time Kumba has remaining.

So he still won’t admit defeat, despite the park saying otherwise?

This is what I want. This one. The footprint is perfect. Alpengiest was such a big deal when it opened, and for many years after it that I would hope they would do anything to try to save the legacy. I can't do it anymore. I like it rough, but I know my limit and I can do it once a year maybe.
I would love to see B&M come up with a vest restraint system that worked on their existing tracks. Most of their older coasters (besides hypers) are really difficult for me to ride because of headbanging..... and before anyone says I just don't know how to ride there's no solution for me.... if it's not headbanging then it's hurting my neck .

But they used the term "service life". They have to close it now!
If there was a phrase I wish I could ban from this entire industry and community, that's the one. It's thrown around like a finite thing and used to do nothing more than manipulate people's feelings towards a park's action.

This explains a lot actually..... That site is..... well.... yea.....

I think the vast majority of the enthusiast community would riot over this occurring. Vest restraints are kinda trash and extremely restrictive. It is to the point where older B&Ms like Griffon are given a leg up in a lot of people's minds since they still have OTSRs when the new equivalent models use vest restraints.

Headbanging is easy to avoid on Alpie if you hold your head up during the cobra roll. Never had an issue anywhere else. Alpie is super manageable in the front row.

Not to go to far off track but he is now hedging his bets saying hey this is what I was given and felt that it was a credible enough rumor that I had an obligation to bring it to you but that he personally isn't sure it's true. That seems like a wildly creative explanation.

I love how enthusiasts are always like "but the park makes decissions based on the GP" until it's something that they don't like.

Way to completely ignore the rest of my statement. Good work.

Damn, didn't think I was hitting a nerve with that response. Wasn't even calling you wrong, was just adding to the topics.

I simply said enthusiasts would hate it. That wasn't me saying they shouldn't make the change or disagreeing with you, just said enthusiasts would hate it. I am not sure if the average consumer prefers vest restraints or not, could be interesting to somehow find that out. I just know a lot of my enthusiast friends loathe them, though personally I don't feel as strongly. I prefer a good ol' OTSR, but I wouldn't boycott over vests.

I think headbanging is pretty easy to avoid on this ride. That was my take, not sure how that ignores the rest of what you said. If you personally have to strain your neck to avoid headbanging, then I can see why it isn't comfortable for you. Me personally, I don't strain my neck. I have told some friends for their first time to hold their head up through the first half and to try to stick towards the front of the train, just my advice for riding it. Not sure how that is me ignoring your post.

Throwing my hat into the ring as someone who loathes the B&M vests. I legitimately find them to be far less comfortable on-ride than the hard B&M OSTRs. I will happily admit that both suck in their own ways, but I DEFINITELY prefer the hard ones.

Ultimately, I think everyone would enthusiastically agree that B&M needs to design some actually good OSTRs like so many other manufacturers have in the last ten years.

Actually seeing it, I really don't hate the light blue. I don't hate it as much as the greenish blue that was before, but the light blue isn't as gross as I thought it was going to look.

I hate both the hard OTSRs and B&Ms vest restraints. Because of my height, the former hits my head (and like @CoasterTalkBob, I am perfectly aware of the solutions that work for people with longer torsos than mine), and the latter feel as if they are trying to crush me like the old Stitch ride in Tomorrowland.

I don’t understand why the clever B&M engineers can’t find a comfortable solution. If Intamin, a company known for trying to murder its riders, has designed vests that don’t hurt, why can’t the coaster company most often identified with smooth, often forceless experiences?

I’m definitely not crazy about the B&M OTSRs because of my broad shoulders. I’ve lost a ton of weight and I’m still stuck in rows 4 and 5 on Alpie and Dominator and the ONE seat on each of Griffons 10 across rows which makes lining up in those rows a pain. Really wish they went the SheiKra route on Griffon with the larger seats. I have only ridden one coaster with vest restraints on a B&M in Wild Eagle which it didn’t bother me on that ride however there is no direct equivalent with regular OTSRs to compare to. I’m sure I’ll notice whenever I ride one of the new B&M dives or Banshee.
