RE: 2012 Coaster

Griffon had already been announced by this point, and the announcement date for the announcement date was at the beginning of August of 2006. It really seems like they should have already announced a date for the official announcement of the ride by now.

^most uses of the variants of the word "announce" in any post ever^

RE: 2012 Coaster

I went to BG yesterday, and it didn't look like the Hurricane did anything to the construction site that hadn't already been there. Same with the rest of the park. (although while I was in Festa it must have rained 10 inches in 30 minutes....)

They have to announce it soon, as the average visitor will wonder why the heck there is a giant hole behind Die Autobahn.

RE: 2012 Coaster

They explain on the train while you're going by that "major land movement is happening for the addition of a new ride in 2012." Busch has even left a lot of their employees in the dark about it, too. I talked to a supervisor walking around when I visited a few weeks ago and even she wasn't fully aware of what the coaster was supposed to be like other than it launching at 3 points and taking up a similar layout to Big Bad Wolf.

Hershey did pretty much the same thing with their Sky Rush project until they officially announced it a few weeks ago. I think Arrow Wolf is right in the fact that Mach Tower played a major role in the delay of an "official announcement."

RE: 2012 Coaster

Most regular park supervisors don't know anything about ride additions. They don't need to know until it's there and they have to deal with it. Either that, or every park supervisor I've ever worked with has lied to me about their knowledge of future developments.

RE: 2012 Coaster

Trust me they are not lying. A lot of those employees got their facts, ideas and proof from us and other similar sites; not to mention strong word of mouth. If Busch did tell them something it probably would be so minute that it wouldn't even be worth mentioning right about now, and the multi-launching coaster with special effects seems to be what they were told.

They weren't even aware of the name VerboLten until a few weeks ago, too.

-I also stumbled on this picture on screamscape's facebook page:
VerboltenLogo.jpg

I believe the guy who posted this is just doing it for attention and to fan the flames of rumors. Because if this is BGW's logo they did a pretty shitty job at it (worse than Hershey's Skyrush ride-video).

RE: 2012 Coaster

Really? I guess I miss out on stuff when I'm enjoying myself too much. Anyways, I still don't believe it is official because the park hasn't released anything in months.

And actually now that I look at it, it's actually creative of them using the "no-speed limit" logo from the autobahn as both the O and the L of VerbOLten. Although I think they can forgo the L and make it just Verboten. I actually would settle for this as the ride's logo just because of how creative it is.

RE: 2012 Coaster

Theme Park Review has some nice post-Irene pics of the big hole. A lot of muddy re-bar holes. Can someone explain how they make those footers? So they dig the hole, then put the re-bar in, and then fill it with concrete? That must not be the case because in the pics they showed some 'molds for footers'....So just a brief rundown on the process please...

Oh and by the way, construction of the event building wall has begun. Exciting!

RE: 2012 Coaster

I was there yesterday for a looksy. Those aren't the walls, it's the forms for the concrete for the foundation of the event building. The walls can't go up until the track is erected.

RE: 2012 Coaster

With pretty much every other major amusement/theme park announcing their plans for 2012, I'm hoping that BGW's announcement isn't too far off.

RE: 2012 Coaster

With their whole Tower plan going limp (hey-o) this year, BG is probably a little gunshy on making ride announcements. j/k :)

RE: 2012 Coaster

It seems like BG wants to focus attention on HOS a lot this year, because they haven't announced Project 2012 or launched the Christmas Town website. (Which they both would have usually done last month)

RE: 2012 Coaster

I would expect that the park would want to make an announcement sometime before HOS starts, though. That would be a very good promotion for buying a season pass: "Howl-O-Scream now, new ride next year."

(Insert comment here using the word "announce" many more times than necessary)

RE: 2012 Coaster

When did they have the meeting in the Festhause last year when they announced Mach Tower and the other things? I believe it was one of the weekends after Labor Day but before HOS. Are they going to do something like that again?

RE: 2012 Coaster

KD accounced its installation of Windseeker next year.
Most all Six Flags parks have announced major additions, including a beautiful B&M Wing Coaster.
Dorney just announced their coaster.

BG is 2 weeks past the opening of MT, has zero external hype about Verbolten, and Labor Day is in sight.

Anyone smell flat attendance figures for 2012? I sure can...

I love BG, but they love to keep their genius creations a big secret until the 11th hour, why???

RE: 2012 Coaster

That makes no sense. Sedaka singing this weekend will own attendance. Why create hype about a not yet opened much less built ride if one just opened[late or not].

All I am trying to imply is that other parks not too far from BG have created hype about rides which don't even exist yet /nor have broken ground for, and they have the chance to steal some of BG's thunder if marketing/PR doesnt start talking up their "world-first ride" now. A themed dust wall is a good start, but only for those who visit the park, not those 100+ miles away who haven't been to BG and haven't ridden a new ride since DarKastle with no real knowledge of a huge addition. Singers coming to BG will not boost attendance in the way a well-touted coaster addition should. If attendance was down 3.4% last year, and possibly down/flat again this year, Verbolten needs to steal the show of possible attendees early on, not solely around the time it opens.

I don't mean to rant, :D but with all we know about this ride, the suspense is truly killing me and BG's shot at the bigtime attention it deserves in 2012.
