RE: 2012 Coaster

What firsts are in here?

Drop track? No, thirteen did it, maybe first in this region...
launches? No, doesn't CH have three? so this would have to have four to break some record, which looks unlikely
Tallest? No
Fastest? Don't think so

Anything seem like a first here? With regards to the Roller Coaster industry, i.e. other than first for BGW?

I thought they said it would be the first to combine all these elements into one?

I hope the changes won't hurt the ride, it would be a huge shame to dull down the coaster because of the leak.

This is a little odd don't you think? How do you hurt a ride that has not even been built? I understand that changes in the plans could alter the experience of the ride...but at this point the experience is un-realized other than maybe some simulations the builders/engineers have done.

The experience this ride will provide is simply all speculation at this point and until its been built and tested to gather data, there is no way to know if changes would hurt.

If you were just saying in general "I hope this doesn't make the ride worse in the end" then forget everything I just said... :)

 That doesn't count for the "Many firsts". That's only one. And if that is true, BGW is screwed for taking the easy way out.

RE: 2012 Coaster

That's kind of a lame first. I doubt that's the case. I think they have something up their sleeves.

RE: 2012 Coaster

i obviously took it as first for the coaster world. i.e. tallest dive coaster, first coaster with interlocking loops, first floorless dive coaster, etc. something of that nature. In the past that's usually what they've done.

I completely agree, but I am starting to wonder if there is something that we may not know about. :-/

RE: 2012 Coaster

The funny thing is Loch Ness isn't the first coaster to have interlocking loops. The infamous Lightning Racers @ Six Flags Great Adventure were. However Loch Ness is the first continuous circuit roller coaster to have interlocking loops.

I seriously wonder what they mean by World's First for VerboLten anyways.

You mean "Lightnin' Loops" not Lightning Racer. (That's the name of a woodie at Hershey Park.)

This may just be slitting hairs here but Lightnin' Loops were two separate coasters that interlocked with each other. Technically Loch Ness can be considered the first single coaster with interlocking loops. (Unless you consider two dueling coasters as a single coaster.)

RE: 2012 Coaster

It didn't from what I know. They might of shut down like KD did but nothing major really happened at either park.

Yeah, Arrow Wolf that was a minor typo. There are a lot of claims between both of the rides but I think it is easier to say this:

"Lightning Loops was the first instance of interlocking loops in the world, if you consider it one ride (Like many do with Rebel Yell, Rolling Thunder, Dueling dragons, Racer @ Kennywood, Colossus, American Eagle, etc.) then it is the first "ride" with interlocking loops. While Loch Ness is the first full-circuit coaster to feature interlocking loops."

This is the reason why I have my coaster counter saying 105 and 113. 105 for every roller coaster (counting duelies as 1 ride) and 113 for duelies being 2 seperate rides.

Back on Topic:

I still do not know what they will mean by world's firsts. Let's hope it isn't "real 4D" where you get a scratch and sniff card for the ride :-/

I don't think it will be 3D or 4D, it would be going much too fast through that building. Also, there's no way you could keep those glasses on your face on a launching roller coaster...

On the topic of dueling/racing coasters: they should be counted as 2 separate rides because if you only get to ride one side, you still would have ridden one whole roller coaster. So Nessie was the first coaster to loop through itself, not another roller coaster.

Aside from the fact that the ride is already in 3D...a 4D experience isn't outta the question.

I meant as in ride screens, like a movie.
Obviously the scenery will be three dimensional.

RE: 2012 Coaster

Again, I hope we don't get scratch and sniff cards. The Spy Kids movie that advertised those basically lied about it and was just an excuse to charge more for the "extra dimension." Also worth mentioning that the movie was a flop.

RE: 2012 Coaster

It would be rather difficult to use a scratch-and-sniff card on a roller coaster.

Although, it would be possible for them to use the same technology as Europe in the Air, fill the room with a foresty smell.

I totally forgot about EitA doing that... The smell of rain water and German Pine while running through the effects building would make it nearly realistic. It would be awesome if they pull that off
