RE: 2012 Coaster

I hate when they market anything "4D" they term itself makes no sense what soever as we live in 4 Dimensions now...

3 axis of movement and TIME (which technically only moves in one direction but its still a dimension)

Cant they come up with a better verbal catchphrase than 4D yet, it really does sound like a 50's gimmick...

RE: 2012 Coaster

Uh.....yea, what he said....
Wait, huh?:p

And while we know the ride will launch several times, it does not mean there may be moments inside that event building when it slows waaaay down. Perhaps even to a halt. We already have a big hunch about the drop track, so it will be totally stopped there. Whos to say the coaster cant slow down dramatically or come to a complete stop elsewhere inside the building...

So there will be time to scratch and sniff....JK

RE: 2012 Coaster

Tekalion, I'm hoping the only time were slowing down/stopping on this ride is when we hit the drop track and when we enter the station to get off the ride after its finished. Considering this coaster is "multi-launching" I'm expecting to get some good speed out of it. I'd rather get my thrills of the ride from the coaster itself and not the event building. When this ride was in the early planning stages, they were calling it a "coaster with a few dark-ride elements" but I worry this thing will end up a "dark-ride with a few coaster elements".

^ Well it is supposed to be a "family ride" to fill the void left by BBW. So I don't know exactly how fast it will go. Hopefully they can make it fast enough though.

I'm not expecting the thing to break any records or anything like that. What I don't want is the trains going five miles an hour in the event building with everyone going: "Oooh Ahhhh, Look at the creepy things! 0_o"

RE: 2012 Coaster

I doubt the trains will speed through the entire event building. I also don't think they'll be going at a controlled crawl. It's just that the setup from the plans of the event building look like the ride will be kept at a more moderate speed to navigate the track. But if there will be a lot of effects, you don't want the train going so fast that nobody notices them.

RE: 2012 Coaster

Strobes in the event building would be amazing. Always love a good strobe while you're moving fast. But doubt it cause someone won't read the warning signs and have a seizure on the ride and BGW gets sued.

And BGW will win because the person didnt read the sign. I still doubt they will put strobes in tho. It looks better if no one has a seizure on the ride...

RE: 2012 Coaster

I don't see why they can't have strobes. Indoor coasters utilize them pretty regularly, as well as other flashing lights. The irony is the fact that they are building a large and thrilling coaster that could in the same building potentially have a dropping segment of track, which caused Alton Towers to consider requiring an age minimum, though it was probably a ploy, and the most dangerous thing that people could be concerned about in the event building is a strobe light.

Irene isnt even that bad. Just some wind here and and there, and rain. It was only pouring rain a couple of times....... So I wouldnt freak out about it or anything.

You realize the the eye wall is still over the outer banks right now, right? The worst part for Hampton Roads is still to come.

RE: 2012 Coaster

A huge band with torrential downpours just moved over the Williamsburg area. I'd like to see if there's a lake in that hole right now.
