RE: 2012 Coaster

Well its definitely good to see action on this thread without days of silence...

So Swift, which pic did Kroenung say was definitely not real?

Ok so again, the theme is "High speed autobahn gets detoured into a forbidden forest that wants to ... kill you", for lack of a better word... dag that IS dumb :dodgy:

I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but if they actually go with "Verbolten" (with the "L"), I imagine most of the general public's response to the name (not the coaster itself, just its name) will be either:

1. Will think they misspelled "verboten" or think it's just made up gibberish meant to sound german.

2. Will think "verbolten" is a real German word.

And maybe a small percentage will actually get the joke and either think it's clever or incredibly stupid.

Probably 2 b/c I would wager that most people don't know that verboten is a word, much less know what it means.

Fixed for ya. As long as they create a good queue video I'll take the Pokemon abortion.

The general public will care less about the name. As long as the ride is awesome they'll pronounce it whatever its called, even if its named "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!"

Actually, whether it's called "Verbolten", "Verboten", or "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!", the general public will still pronounce it as "That [Insert Coaster Color Here] Coaster" or "The One Next To The Pretzel Place".

Just like Nessie is "The One With Two Loops" or Griffon "The One That Goes Straight Down". :dodgy: The GP really doesn't care as long as it's a good ride, ex. Drop Tower.

Or even better: "The one next to the big tower!"

Or "That one that launches", "The one that does [Whatever it will be]" or simply "That one!" *point*

RE: 2012 Coaster

A few things:

1 - If I'm reading it right, that logo posted on the front page is a fake, which is GREAT, because it's ugly.

2 - Is anyone else disappointed that they're moving away from monster-themed coasters? If there's something in there about a magic forest that is trying to kill you, it's better, but if it's just some run-away car thing? Ugh. Which leads me to...

3 - Swift's comment that people won't even know the name of it is a great point, actually, about theming. A lot of people don't care at all...but the people who do care (like me), care A LOT. This is generally why, when I get the vibe that someone isn't a "theming" person, I sort of stop caring what they have to say about that area/show/restaurant/ride from a theming/atmosphere perspective. It's not that their opinions don't matter...it's that they don't have a real opinion about it. You could literally set the whole thing up on a blacktop parking lot and they'd be happy. Meanwhile, for some of us, theming an atmosphere are EVERYTHING.

Me personally, I couldn't really care less what the ride is like...so I won't comment that the ride needs to be this, or the ride needs to be that. So long as it looks nice and fits the theme and helps set a good mood for the park, I'll be happy.

SPACE MOUNTAIN, MAN. SPACE. MOUNTAIN.

RE: 2012 Coaster

Does anyone think that maybe it might be the same track design and train design as Manta opening at SWSD next year?

RE: 2012 Coaster

No, I don't think it will be the same at all. Manta is a very small ride and will not be built by the same manufacturer. This ride looks much different and much better than SWSD's Manta. BGW's new ride does not seem to be comparable to any one coaster as a whole.

RE: 2012 Coaster

Is it just me being late, or did anyone else notice that the area behind the Festhaus is actually called the "Black Forest" or the "Black Forest Picnic Area"? Guess they were trying to tie into the same name that has been there for the themeing and make something more out of it?

Welcome back Franco! Where have you been hiding?

Anyway, the best way I can describe Project 2012 would be a taller, faster, launched version of TH13TEEN made by Zierer.

RE: 2012 Coaster

Thanks, Swift! I've been super busy over the last few months with quite a bit going on and just haven't had a lot time to contribute to the site until now.

While I agree that TH13TEEN is the most closely related coaster, the layouts are still remarkably different. That being said, I think the "different" factor for this coaster is a positive; BGW is getting something that should be completely new to America, something that hasn't happened in a while, unless you count Griffon, which you really can't because of Sheikra. The trains were totally unique, but this ride as a whole should be an original and well-themed ride for the country.
