A soft opening happens before media day.

Media day is the official opening.

Griffon's media day was May 16, 2007 but had a soft opening on Sunday May 13, 2007. The ride-ops didn't even know it was soft-opening until they got to work that morning.

I know, i was just saying because right now all we have is piles of dirt and a couple footers. It just seems like they would have a little more before we will see track coming in.

Nothing new with the coaster the past two days. I'm beginning to wonder about the drop into the river. Is it going to be low to the ground after the drop and exactly what will it do after it launches from the event building to the bridge, which is supposed to be a 126 ft. Drop, right?

ALSO: that pit has to be atleast 30 feet deep. They have some rebar down in the ground and water trucks and loose rebar sitting there, The ground looks pretty packed so they are able to pour the slab fairly soon. I would say they're about 30%-40% done with the footers (like what vaughn said earlier).

They were working on those scrim walls today. I could still smell the fresh paint. Most of the merchandise that was in that old BBW shop has been moved to Der Marktplatz and the Press Penny machine is infront of the game closest to the Maypole.

I didn't notice this last week, but there seemed to be new signs and graphics along the walls on bridge.

It is probably going to be one of the effects inside the building of the ride. There are two sections in the ride where the track is going to be banked out and it would be nice as a cliffhanger sort of effect.

Actually, as someone else pointed out, there isn't any outward banking. The track envelope (first picture, first post) shows the banking inside of the building.

Someone?! I've been reduced to "SOMEONE"?! Swift....I feel we're getting distant....

And yeah, the ride envelope doesn't pitch outwards. The images where it does just appears to be draft drawings.

Exactly and you can have a fire effect in thick woods you just have to know how to set it properly.

I think B-Mac meant that fire wouldn't be appropriate if you're supposed to be in the woods. Smokey Bear would NOT be very happy about that :p

But as to the building, yeah, there can be fire effects inside. The fact that there's water has nothing to do with it.

Last night I saw a graphic on the wall showing a road in the woods with a lightning bolt hitting the road and a set of skid marks stopping right before the lightning bolt. Sorry but I wasn't able to get that picture but I'm sure a more local user can get it for us.

It also seems they are adding a few subtle hints of the ride to the fence just about every day before the media release (which is Aug. 22nd, right?).

I wouldn't be surprised if a scene in the themed building involved lightning striking the base of a tree causing it to fall into the path of the "car", barley missing it.
