RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

I wouldn't go and say TPR is a bunch of idiots. Some of the smartest theme park enthusiasts out there call that website home. If you look at who posted it, it is clearly a new park employee who has found an interest who doesn't really know a lot about the construction process of a roller coaster.

Thanks to you if you rode AC yesterday as we set a new record for how many people rode in a day, 17,600!!!

We were there. Watched them cranking it out at the end of the night to try to break the record. We contributed 8 rides to the total :)

Kind of got ahead of myself there, lol. Unless the employee, or whoever took the photo, was there just that one day and didn't see any pics of the digging before then I can see where the assumption came from. There's still a lot for them to do before they are able to pour the slab for the event building and hopefully the weather will cut them a break so they can pour it, let it dry, and build everything that is going in there. Now what I want to know is if the footers for the ride inside the event building are going to be poured before the slab is put down? Or are they doing something completely different?

I also still have a lot to learn about what exactly goes into the full production of a roller coaster (still wondering why Wicked @ Lagoon needed 40+ ft deep footers when it was being built). I do have a good grasp of it, but not a 100% sure idea about how it all goes down.

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

They could do the building at the same time as the track depending on how it may all tie together.

If it is like any other major indoor coaster you will see footers --> foundation --> part of the walls --> track --> major effects inserted but not installed --> building finish --> effects placed/installed.

A few other major indoors have gone through that course and it is only reasonable to assume that this will follow that same course. You are almost sure to see the track placed prior to the finishing of the sides and roof due to crane.

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

The building completion must be the last step so they can easily get the cranes in threw thee building to lift up the pieces without conflict. Maybe if they finish A corner of the building of track they can begin building walla over there. But usually footers come before anything.

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

All I really want to know is whether or not the track ACTUALLY pitches outward during that helix. if so that would be incredibly sweet. Though I wonder what that would feel like with a lap bar...

Mods, can you confirm or deny this? It certainly looks like it's the case from the sketches...

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

And Swift, what happened to the pics you said you were contemplating posting. Still gonna? If you arent, could you describe what it was? Chris?

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

@Tekalion: I still plan to post them, but it will be in a main site post and it will be done all at once. Getting everything together is a ton of work and sadly, I can't spend all of my time doing it.

@CarterGee: The documents we have that show that area all show the outward bank. It looks pretty simular to Steel Hawg's outside bank turn but in helix form.

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

I would imagine that ours would be faster and more intense that that "tilt out".

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

Now I'm beginning to like what's going into that building... Maybe they're going to make it like a cliffhanger where the screen shows you hanging off the edge of the "cliff"? I don't recall if a screen is being placed in that helix or not bu that would be awesome if they did that.

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

From what I understand, this http://bgwfans.com/forum/attachment.php?aid=1360 and http://bgwfans.com/forum/attachment.php?aid=1361 that will be in the middle of the helix. I have know clue what those two things are but I guess ill see! lol

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

Sheesh. I forsake checking this forum for a couple of tiny little months and I miss a WORLD of information about coaster 2012.

I hate launches, car theming, and coasters that are dark rides. But I'm really excited about this one. I'm going to try to get out there tomorrow for a bit and see what's going on.
