Saturday was pushing 30- 45 mile per hour gusts.

That picture was taken Saturday near the foam in Planet Spooky.

It may not seem windy on the ground but at 300 feet in the air and with no trees to break up the wind. It's dangerous.

WindSeeker is one of those rides that looks tame, but add in 301 feet off the ground and its a white knuckle ride. It had been closed Sunday morning due to winds from the passing hurricane, but began opening and testing around 3:30 I think. We hopped in line and were part of the gradual adding of people to the ride. I know it's not necessary, but I'd feel much more secure with a OTSR like Drop Zone. It felt like it would never stop going up. Nice views for sure. That was my first ride and possibly only ride ever on WS.

Yeah, getting hoisted 300 feet in the air in what basically looks like a kiddie swing seems pretty intense to me, tbh. Just call me chicken -- I'm sure the beak and wings fit!

I exaggerate a little about the ride seating and restraints -- but it is comparable (in height) to dangling around and hanging out on a coaster's lift hill. I'm torn between thinking it would be preposterous to get on one and wanting very badly to ride one -- I have been watching these since they were introduced and thought they looked deceptively thrilling. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I love riding windseeker. However, I won't get on it at night. It just plain creeps me out for some reason.

Windseeker is actually the scariest ride in the park to me. I have rode it many times and I have rode the one at Cedar Point as well and to this day, it scares me everytime I ride it. Like white knuckled gripping the harness too tight scared. Lol

I can relate to that. I got over the angst by just jumping in the seat and buckling in. That's how I did my first few coasters ever that I was freaked out all my life about. You just have to take the plunge so to speak and go for it. It's literally the height of i305. Same with Drop Tower. Just jump in the seat, pull the harness down and don't look back (or DOWN!) .. that's the only way I can make my butt get on these ride (oh and a little peer pressure.)

I never found Windseeker to be all that scary. The ride feels sturdy and you don't feel like you're really spinning all that fast at the top when you're riding it.

I'd love to ride one of those starflyers though. Being held onto the carousel by chains and strapped in like a chairswing 100+ feet in the air would be really intimidating.

I have rode a few including the Texas Skyscreamer at 400 feet high, and I was not that much of a fan. It wasn't really scarier than Windseeker to me. I would say my fear was about the same on both. The Skyscreamer's pole in Texas seems to look way bigger in Diameter making it feel a bit safer while riding. It was a good ride but I prefer the Windseeker.

You'll get your chance at SFA next year with their new ride. Wonder Woman's Lasso of Truth 242 ft tall chain swinger. NO WAY am I ever getting on that one.

So, apparently WindSeeker is currently a maypole for Oktoberfest.  Because why not shut down a major attraction to decorate the area?

Thinking about it more, this does seem like a great idea for Mach Tower...

Granted, it is the most dolled up I've ever seen that part of the park since...well, ever.

I feel like shutting down a major attraction that people expect to be able to ride in order to hang streamers from it is... Mindblowingly stupid.

Usually, maybe they took a look at ridership numbers for this time of year and for some reason found this to be a justifiable "use" for it without having to pay maintenance costs.

During Haunt however I've found the queue to be rather full. The new maze back their plus Zombie High usually draws some crowd to the back end of the park. Plus that view during haunt can't be beat.

I was there yesterday and I almost felt bad for the vendors and musicians. There was hardly anybody there. I was shocked to see that someone had toilet papered windseeker. Also, the 15+ beer selection was down to about 3 choices. It made no sense.
