They've had the car and the track since last year. Disappointed that they couldn't give them track that wasn't pinch cut, hopefully the NRCMA could do some magic to make it look good on display when they eventually open.

EDIT: Missed the wheel assemblies that were cropped out of the tweet, derp.

I found the Blast Coaster!

NAIROBI — A highly active volcano in eastern Congo erupted Saturday night, turning the sky above a fearsome red and causing evacuation plans to be activated in a major city devastated in 2002 and 1977 by Mount Nyiragongo’s most recent lava flows.

(And, yes, I apologize for making light of this real world crisis.)

There is only one time that I remember where we could have recovered without maintenance, but that was a no-go due to the fact that an operator would have had to gone down to the first launch panel and dispatched the train from there. The majority of aborted launches occurred due to the train not hitting 69 mph in the first launch (usually due to a heavy train or overheating) so the ride would automatically abort and let the train coast through the second launch until it came back to the first launch. Volcano’s launch system wasn’t dynamic in the sense that it would adjust its power output, it just always ran at max power. Trains speeds could vary from 76 in the first launch and 74 in the second launch with a empty or mostly empty train, to the minimum required to make it over the top which was 69 in the first and 68 in the second. Anything less than that and she was sending it back. On a good day, she’d stay at 72/70 all day.

This is why I miss LIMs. I never care about last rides of the night but Volcano was one that I always tried for because if you waited for the front seat you could often end up being the only person on the train and that ride was bonkers....

im more of a lsm giy myself, it makes me feel like the ride is grabbing by the stomach and taking me on an epic journey into space and time. why do you like LIMS better?

Today I came across some information that really interested me. When Smurf Mountain closed and before Volcano was built and Safari Village/Jungle-X was called “Congo”, Paramount was going to theme the then idle mountain around their movie that came out around that time also called “Congo”. Due to it being a flop in the box office they scrapped the idea and built Volcano… but does anybody at all have any information about this ride that never got to see the light of day?

My last ride on Volcano was on Family and Friends preview day in 2014, and it was a rollback! I'll never forget it.

Now that we're a few years out from Volcano's demise, did we ever get a definitive reason as to why the ride had to close so suddenly and never opened again? Was it an issue with the ride, the mountain, or both?

... of this KDFans article is the most I've ever said publicly.

I will add this too though: The problem was one that, reportedly, Intamin would ARDENTLY deny any responsibility for. Take that as you will.

It seems like once statutes of limitations pass that something could be said publicly if it's that bad.
