Or, here's an idea, they just aren't putting another attraction in there.

Or maybe, if they do put a new attraction in their, they'll repair the queue.

Insisting that removing the queue has anything to do with the mountain structure itself as if it's definitive proof is mindboggling and quite frankly, is coming across as being stubborn.

Stop asserting your opinions as fact, especially when there's more than enough evidence to prove the opposite of said opinion.

I'm sure that they're handling this simply by getting most of the smaller stuff out of the way, especially things that would block closer access to the mountain like the turnaround track and the gift shop / queue.

I can't make heads or tails of what the hell KD wants to do with it currently but we'll probably have an idea come Memorial Day.

A group of workmen carefully removing a bridge from something you believe is about to be flattened to the ground doesn't bode well for those who think the mountain could be staying...?

I'd love to know the rationale behind that idea...

I agree. If the whole structure is coming down, why in the world would you carefully cut and remove the wood bridge connecting the old queue house to the mountain? If the mountain is coming down with the coaster, I think it would be faster to place a piece of heavy equipment with a hydraulic jaw in the lagoon and chomp away. Sorry, still not convinced the structure is coming down at this point.

My $0.02 is they need to take out the Volcano TBC queue out, get the coaster, and it’s drive motors out.

Once you got all of that out you can assess what to do with the mountain. Keep it? Get rid of it? As, I think @Zachary said in the past, there’s lots of power/air/other storage inside the mountain that they need to be careful with.

So the best thing to do is take out everything that’s not part of the mountain carefully. That way they can either determine what to do with the mountain or what to do with everything that’s housed in the mountain.

Also keep in mind that a complete demo of the mountain likely means that Avalanche, the scrambler, and possibly FoF (safety more than anything) would need to close.

Now I’m on the record in saying in concept that I’m on board for a 1-2 year shut down of this part of Safari Village and renovating everything. Changing out the Crypt for a new flat, now updating VTBC, redoing theme elements.

What’s changed to me since then, is with the renovation of CAG, what sounds like a slight move to update OV, SV is a bit of out of place. So I would love to see this: update this part of Safari Village to have a Blue Ridge Mountains theme. In fact, I’m going to the concepts for KD to do something on this.

Has anyone reached out to Kings Dominion to ask whether the mountain is staying or being removed? Obviously they won't comment on future attractions and they may not answer, but it couldn't hurt to ask. Maybe we'd at least get some partial, vague clue.

Sounds like a job for our fearless leaders Zachary & Nicole.

A couple of facts dealing with the queue house bridge demo.
  • The bridge shown was created when Volcano was built (and the upper opening into the mountain). It did not exist when the mountain was "The Lost World".
  • The Volcano entrance was the former entrance to the Land of Dooze/Smurf Mountain.
  • Once you were up the ramp and made the left turn toward the main queue house, there was an open area with maybe 2-3 queue switchbacks. That area was part of the original queue house for Dooze/Smurfs. KD walled off the rest of the queue house when Volcano was built. (I assume KD gutted the rest of the old queue house for Volcano).
  • Then you crossed over another bridge to the main Volcano queue house which was originally the main queue house for The Haunted River. That bridge did not exist when the structure was the "Lost World".
  • The Haunted River original entrance was a set of stairs on the side where the Volcano exit is located. The stairs led to the upper portion of the queue house, diagonally across from where you entered the queue house when it was Volcano.
  • When KD redid the Volcano station for loading/unloading, they went back to using the original Haunted River queue path stairs, (back center of the queue house). When it was Volcano, at the bottom of the stairs, you turned left to go into the mountain for loading. When it was the Haunted River, you turned right for loading in what was the Volcano gift shop.

To put it bluntly, there were multiple changes to the queue lines and mountain openings for pedestrian and ride access when Volcano was built. IF the mountain stays on, I expect multiple changes to the structure again for whatever attraction(s) are installed there in the future.

Angelo Giles posts videos on YouTube on a regular basis about KD. I noticed that in the latter half of his recent video about volcano, (one video - with 2 parts - about a week apart), I noticed the new 6-7 foot solid wood fence going across the Volcano entrance. He filmed the whole front of Volcano from the scrambler to the Volcano entrance.

What I find strange is that, after crossing the ride entrance, the fence cuts into the edge of the lagoon and right across the front of the queue house/gift shop. The fence cuts in again across the ride exit and then the fence continues in the old boat channel and across part of the path (dead-end) close to the Scrambler entrance.

Why would you place a new fence so close to the demo site? Especially, the queue house/gift shop. Part of the fence sits inside what appears to be the original outer railing of the gift shop (keeps you from falling into the lagoon). If the whole thing is coming down, wouldn't you want to place the fence along the outer perimeter of the lagoon to make room for the demo equipment and for the safety of workers/visitors? (Heck, it would keep the fence from being damaged from falling debris.)

Wonder why Merchandise didn’t clean out their cage on the right.
