I'm on the same page as Nicole. When Volcano TBC was installed, KD had to remove the top of the mountain and cut access points for the supports and launch areas into and out of the structure. That also included the queue area in the front of the mountain for the station entrance/exit. The park also went back and sealed up what were the extrances/exits for the former attraction queue lines and ride openings.
I am not saying the mountain won't come down in the end. For me, I think it is too early to make the call that the mountain is going completely. I want to give the demo process a couple more weeks before I can determine that to be true. I am pretty sure the park is not going to give any details about the demo at this point.
Looking at that last pictures, it appears people are a little thin skinned about it's demise.
Thin skinned, indeed: there is very little concrete information on the mountain right now.
People put this card and flowers in front of the entrance this morning.
I hope the Volcano memorials continue in increasingly absurd fashion over the coming months. This could become a high quality coaster meme.

If they were tearing the whole thing down, wouldn't it make more sense to start from the top and work their way to the bottom ? I get that there are supports, but the idea of tearing it from the bottom up would seem illogical at best and dangerous at worst.
If the ride is cut up into pieces like I’d imagine, a good amount of it could be taken apart without needing to cut into the mountain. Instead of just demolishing huge chunks of the coaster, I could see them lifting each section off the mountain with a crane and cutting the supports where they go into the structure. If they try to salvage the mountain, we will see areas that have to be cut into to finish the removal. The picture posted by Zachary and crew really have me thinking the demolition of that part is for an easy entrance for workers/equipment, if kd wanted the structure to come down, those supports would be goners.

Wasn't the mountain already starting to crumble from age? I swear the park tried patching it up recently.
