Sadly I knew back in 2011 when this opened that whole building would sooner or later end up being just a black shell.

This is EXACTLY what I have always wished they went with instead of the cartoon cutouts. I wish they had gone full Rainforest Cafe with silk plants totally surrounding the track, which would create a more realistic sensation of traveling through a dense forest in a perpetual state of night.
I'd certainly stop bashing the ride if they did that. We'll have to see how Hagrid's Magical Creatures does its indoor section.

By then they will have dismantled it, claiming that the manufacturer told them it was only good for 20 years, and also the show building will be used for special events
I wouldn't be too upset over this scenario either. ?‍♂️

So a few of my $0.02 on things with this ride:
~ Interior set being a drop cloth (basically). That's such a flimsy material in the scale of what they could have used. I'm not surprised it started to have issues. They definitely should have been 'hard material' sets to stand the test of time, but on the flip side, I get that they were trying to visually block parts of the ride from each other.

~I would 'redo' this with a physical wall, and to cut down on spending, but to make it 'noise wise' more interesting, I would use corrugated steel for the wall. The sounds bouncing off of it would be amazing. Then in terms of creating some fake trees and things like that, you only have to design something on the wall halfway instead of spending to build the full thing.

~A general BGW comment: I'm a firm believer in 'do the little things and the big things take care of themselves'. Well guess what BGW doesn't do IMO.....the little things. Like a little thing with this ride IMO is that they don't do a great job with the landscaping around the ride. It's not a big thing to plant some bushes, keep them trimmed, and keep things clean. Inside with the sets, just make sure whatever it's hanging by is connected, and that set lasts really long.

I agree on the landscaping... They seem to want to keep it all grass, which isn't a black forest. That magical creatures ride is full of trees. According to their press release, they planted 1200 trees... How many does verbolten have? Too bad they won't go back to how big bad wolf was landscaped

To be fair to BGW here:
Planting a mature tree is VERY expensive. Planting young trees isn’t and it should have been done and allow to mature. IoA/UO has the money for that.

Three trains running on Verbolten today. Also more of the screens appear to be working now.

I had a thought...

Is anyone doing a coaster tour anytime soon? That would be a great chance to ask about the changes to verbolten’s show room. I’m sure they would be able to answer, at least to some extent, why they took down the interior things and what they plan to do with it next.

Maybe one of our admins will do some investigative journalism for us? @Nicole @Zachary

I took the freebie tour that came with raising over $250 for GKTW Village and Verbolten was part of it. I made a comment about the "new" screens and the guide said yeah they were new and I explained I wasn't a fan. That was pretty much the extent of the convo about them. I didn't realize that they already existed and was the result of other props falling to reveal them. If I would have known that I would have asked more pointed questions.

I did the tour in August and had a super great guide who actually regularly reads the forums and learned quite a bit about the show building. The reason why the quality of the show building is being degraded is the budget for V-Bolt is shrinking as more expensive rides like Le Scoot and EFP need more of that money in order to operate and be refurbished. Also, supposedly the curtains were taken down and just never put back up as it wasn’t seen as a pertinent issue which seems mildly questionable. It’s a shame to see the ride slowly begin to fall apart, but from a financial stand point where SEAS is forced to make cuts, for the time being I can see some of these changes being justifiable. Hopefully, after the park settles down with larger additions and has a “down” year they can focus on Verbolten and restore it to the former glory of the 2012 Black Forest.

Has anyone ever taken a g-force meter with them on vbolt? Was having a conversation today about the the forces and we couldn't find any numbers quoted anywhere.

Most of BGWs coasters have a G-Force meter built in. Not sure which row Verbolten's are or if it has them at all, but the B&Ms all do for sure.

I just found it strange that nowhere on rcdb or Google could I find any reference to the G's of vbolt.

They were installing the g force meters at one point for school groupls I think....that was before bolts time and not sure it ever got one.

I have never seen one on bolt but can confirm that some rides still have them.

How about you ride it with an accelerometer app on your phone that records g-forces? There are tons of apps out there.
