So I got philips hue lights the other day and downloaded a Halloween effects app to play with them. Imagine my surprise when almost half of the effects were IDENTICAL to the sound effects played on Verbolten. So either this app has incredibly great recordings from the ride with no distortion whatsoever, or Verbolten uses generic sound effects, maybe some under a Creative Commons licence.

Ride has been running excellent the past few weeks. It was like opening year all over again. Anyone calling this ride rough is absolutely nuts.

The wolf effects have completely crapped out though. No more eyes :( Very disappointed.

But they brought back the flashing spirit as you're rolling out of the building. A nice little overlooked detail.

As you roll out of the building, the screen you see in the front row (with the spirit's face) flashes on and off. I always figured it was basically the spirit warning you of the bridge drop ahead. It was out all 2013, so I figured it wasn't really part of the ride, but the park made an effort to turn it back on again.

I noticed it on one of my first rides. You can see it better toward the back rows.

Really sad to see what has happened to the queue... last time I was there the books had been ripped apart... well this time I noticed two pictures on the wall completely gone... one painted over with white and lots of graffiti and the other one just plain missing (the mount was still there).

It is sad that BG has no mechanism for repairing this stuff... like reprinting it, etc. Major lack of detail and just plain looks bad when you think of what places like Disney do every day.

Not to mention all the paint coming off the railings, etc.

I always wondered if/how well they monitor things like Verbolten's queue theming for vandalism. I don't remember seeing much vandalism at BGW, but it's been a while since I've been.

They should check this stuff daily and be prepared to print new ones... or at least weekly I would think. And they could probably do something to make the books out of reach. I mean, they ought to have a plan to maintain stuff.

When I was looking around the park I saw lots of burned out bulbs too...especially on some of the stationary rides

If I remember back to when we first got details of this ride, I know a lot of people were curious to see if and/or how well the park would maintain everything.... Honestly, I don't expect the queue to be perfect. That's really just not possible given the maturity levels of some guest at the park. What is disappointing to hear though, is the wolf eyes element being out. That's a pretty important piece not working.

Probably those !@$&#%* compact fluorescent bulbs. Don't get me started on my feelings about the senseless deprecation of my beloved incandescent bulbs!

*looks up ERS*

I like halogen, but the "green" people often don't. LED is fine for some applications but to my eye (I have been evaluated as having perfect color vision; I'm an artist and very sensitive to light and colors) white LED is just not there yet in terms of providing the right color temperature for general applications, especially those replacing incandescent lighting, including halogen.

I'm assuming the wolf eyes in Verbolten's event building are LED. I doubt they "burn out" very frequently. I suspect that the failure of that effect is due to some mechanical/electrical problem and not because the LEDs themselves are failing.

LEDs never die, almost. They also have warm white LEDs and cool white LEDs. The warm white is definitely close to am incandescent look.

The biggest problem with the LED eyes is that they are not positioned very strategically. Yes, I'm sure there are many legitimate cases with nonfunctioning lights, but due to the way they designed that part of the set your more likely to have it blocked by another piece of scenery. The ride is very weird that way. As for the queue line, that is unacceptable in my opinion. Busch Gardens definitely has the resources to fix it. They just choose not to, because they know that people are going to ruin it again. The park has a wonderful maintenance team. They get much less credit than they deserve. The other day I saw a maintenance worker fixing a tile on the side of one of the buildings in Italy. If they can fix things that people most likely won't even notice, they can fix the big things. The problem is that those posters take time to print with decent quality using what the park already has. That is part of the reason why the park has outsourced A few of their recent printouts. They have good resources, but some of them are a little bit outdated. I think they just need to rig them down a little bit better, and have a spare sitting in the broom closet(or someplace like that nearby).
