Good news: wolf eyes are officially back as of HOS opening night, fully intact.

Bad news: no more fog in the drop. They really need to bring that back as it was a neat effect. I thought the whole no fog thing was just gonna be an opening weekend glitch but it looks like its more permanent since I didn't see it on Sunday.

Minor change, after two years of falling off, the side decals were removed for stickers instead.

That's a shame. The fog with the blue light at the bottom of the drop made it feel like you diving into a blue abyss. It rained on one of our rides last year which made it ten times cooler. One of the best coaster experiences I've ever encountered.

fog is back as of tonight....as depicted in Luke's picture above. :p

I found this pic of Verbolten from this year and I must say it would be quite a chilly ride!:p

^ that is very cool. It is a shame they can not do something to camouflage out the concrete supports.

It seems to me that barring environmental concerns (i.e., concrete stain in constant contact with the water), they could have colored the concrete either dark green or brown. While applying concrete stain wouldn't exactly make it disappear, at least it would be less conspicuous during the warmer months.

One of the problems I have with Verbolten is the absurdly large and ugly footers. For 54 million you'd think some rockwork or ... something would have been possible.

The footers on the final turn are ridiculously large it's like their mentality was, "well instead of making two footers we can extend all these to reach both supports, and we can have floating footers at the same time."

They had a problem where they could not add any new footers, all they could do is modify what was already there. (wetlands protection) So thoes are actually modified BBW footers. But I am with Jonquil, no reason they could not have secured rock to them.

Even the ones on land had to be modified because those were still technically a part of the wetlands protection. Just sleep safe at night knowing that they can withstand a lot of force and won't break easily.

The thing that gets me is that it isn't even connected to a body of water that connects to the Chesapeake. The park is its own watershed.

Slide 16 dictates bodies of water covered under the RPA need a 100ft buffer all around it. I suppose that is the reasoning for the footers to only be modified.
