RE: Verbolten

I got to ride last night on the blue train with the headlights on. It really adds to the experience in the event building. They are not every bright, but you can see about 2 feet in front of the train.

RE: Verbolten

They will not be on in the event building anymore. It was only this weekend for the "technical dress rehearsal."

RE: Verbolten

After riding Boltie a few more times I have to say it has grown on me. I have come to realize that my initial experience in the very front was dull, and that I actually like sitting in the back of the coaster a bit more (the way it throws you around actually makes it quite thrilling in my book). As far as a favorite portion of the ride it would definitely have to be the event building. I stand by my initial sentiment that the darkness is very disorienting, and it is this disorientation along with the speed and trank banking that make the event building so good.

RE: Verbolten

During the VIP event on Thursday I am going to sit in the front to see which one I like more. I've already sat in the back and actually liked it and I definitely love the loading of 2 trains at a time.

Can anybody reccomend a row to sit in for a first ride on Verbolten?

Depends on what kind of ride you want. If you want a more intense ride I would recommend the back. Otherwise stay toward the front of the car (In my opinion).

I also rode blue on my night ride ( yes it is cool seeing the headlights up ahead of you, and I for one will miss the lights in event building). I rode on the last or the second to last row of the ride and I have to admit it was a pretty fun night ride ( they left the area dark like it was during BBW.)

RE: Verbolten

My wife and son rode yesterday around 3:15 after a restart and all of the lights in the event building were left on :p (She said she felt bad for the people that waited an hour to ride.)

Could you see more theme elements in the event building when the headlights were on?

Not necessarily, but to me it does enrich the theming even more in my opinion (lost in the darkness of the Black Forest just your headlights providing light.)

RE: Verbolten

Here's a (very) small picture update from the soft opening on Friday (5/11/12).

Drop%2520and%2520Photographer.jpg

I don't know if you can see him, but the photographer that I had mentioned is in this photo. Although the area would look nice with trees, the grass makes it look pretty good.

Zierer.jpg

I spy, with my little eye... Some Zierer product placement hidden within the German signage. This is in the front of the station, right next to the line for the very front.

Blue%2520Car.jpg

A photo showing the working headlights on the blue car. It may have been mentioned before, but the taillights work as well.

Station.jpg

And to finish things off.... A nice photo of the blue car in the station.

I was told that Busch actually acquired that from the Zierer offices in Germany... apparently they were going to throw that cabinet out and Busch asked for it

RE: Verbolten

i have been searching for it everywhere! they played it last night while i was at work on FOX channel. great commercial

RE: Verbolten

I had the liberty of riding both V-bolt and Cheetah Hunt in the same week. :D CH had a rattle, but I felt V-bolt's was a bit more severe. If anything, V-bolt rattled like Sheikra did (and it did have a noticeable rattle).

Anyway, let's get to the comparison.
Ride-wise - CH has the edge with the zero-g roll and the pops of airtime throughout the ride. Other than that, both aren't too intense, and both have good transitions. CH's OTSRs will dig into your shoulders if you raise your hands in the air, so I don't recommend trying that too often.

Theming-wise - Verbolten takes the cake. Even though both parks reused old stations, BGW definitely pulled out all the stops while BGT sorta kept most of the good theming outside. The Cheetah Run exhibit is pretty nice although the cheetahs were sleeping when I was there. As for V-bolt, I didn't get the full effect going through V-bolt's show building (I was lucky enough to ride with the lights on), but what I've seen so far has impressed me. The floating tunnel still bugs me greatly though.

Fun factor - Both coasters are great additions and both coasters are very fun to ride. I'd put the fun factor at a draw.

Overall - Cheetah Hunt is more intense with its zero-G roll and pops of airtime, but Verbolten's theming really gives it the edge to beat out CH. Either way both parks got big winners.
