RE: Verbolten

Verbolten is going extremely smooth in terms of a new ride and electrical problems. I must say, i expected alot more down time and working out the bugs for the sound/lighting/lauch/sensors, but as my second day of watching behind the sences soft opening at full running, im impressed. Everybodys layed back and smiles. Go V-Bolt!!!

will wait til Thursday to post a POV

I guess you are going to the media day... and that means you will have the park's permission... I hate to see someone kicked out because of a video when they could have just asked first

I just find it hard to ask to get permission to do POV's.....it feels like no matter what they are gonna say no......at least that is how it is down here at Carowinds....are Busch employees more lenient?

RE: Verbolten

So I rode the ride today, only once, there was a long line. I wont rehash the entire experience as others have already done a fine job doing that. But I will mention a few things I enjoyed, and perhaps didnt.

There was one thing I particularly enjoyed inside the event building. Its pretty much pitch black inside except for flashes of neon shapes and things. But right before you hit the first brake run, you move through a helix. This is where the 'moonbox' is. This really is a beautiful sight. It draws your eyes to it, since its the only thing that you can see, but it adds much depth to the experience. For me, just for a moment, it gave me the illusion that we were riding in slow motion. Really neat.

When we got to the drop section, I didnt know how extreme it would be, but it was a bit lackluster. Seemed like a really short drop, actually. But whatever.

All in all, a nice family ride. Still not on par with the big boys of the park. But if your looking for variety, this is it.

I'm gonna hit the park this evening after 4. Hopefully the ride will be open. So whan you go inside the event building, are the lateral G's really high when you go through the helixes?

YES!!! I actually was dizzy for some odd reason through the whole building. I normally dont ever get dizzy. And if u want highest G's ride the back not the front.;)

Sounds like everyone can agree this lives it to BBW. It was a perfect replacement. Am I right? (I am not going until Friday so idk)

It certainly was:)

RE: Verbolten

Got to the park around 11am today and headed straight to Germany and sure enough Verbolten was running. 18 minute wait. The queue was was great. The Decor was amazing, BG did a great job with this one. The video of Gerta at the ticket window was cute...the first 2 times. After that it became annoying....very annoying. "VROOOM VROOOM VROOOM SSSRRREEECCCHHHHH!"

The first ride I had the lightning scene. The second ride was the wolf scene. (both times I was in the back seat) I was going for a third but I had to pee REALLY bad and was getting hungry. The overall ride time was quick. I wanted more. The drop was just ok it is definately a cool thing, but as someone else stated earlier "lackluster"; which it was. After the "dark" part (Black Forest?) the ride rode pretty hard. It was fast and really jerky. Loved the fast part, but it sure wasn't a smooth ride. Had flash backs of Drachen Fire up until the Rhine River drop. Maybe if I had a seat closer to the front...

Went back around 4pm and they said that Verbolten may or may not open back up today, so I headed off to Griffon and left the park around 6pm.

Would I recommend riding Verbolten, absolutely. Would I ride Verbolten again, hell yes.

It is against park rules, so I will never do it, but do they really kick people out for doing it. I know they have a sign saying so at Mach Tower and Griffon, but what about the other rides? Again I am not going to take a camera out, I was just curious.

So what exactly is this "Moonbox"?

I finally saw the "moonbox" today it is when you are in the event building and the ride slows down look to the left and at the bottom you will see it. It's just the look of the moon with tree branches around it. It looks pretty cool.

RE: Verbolten

How are the on ride videos? Have they been running those during this soft opening? If so, if anyone has one to post to the forums as an example of what one looks like, it'd be nice to see. If not just check it out and describe how the video looks.

It is amazing this is one of things we were excited about but hasn't been brought up yet.
