RE: Verbolten

Apparently when you ride Verbolten you'll get one of three story sequences. They include:

1) A fierce lightning storm (which would explain the "lightbox" we saw in the plans)
2) An encounter with the spirit of the dark forest (which would explain the "gnarly hands" we saw in the plans)
3) Being chased by wolves with glowing red eyes

I kind of think that's awesome. Even though the parts may not work together for one "super experience" it keeps the ride fresh and re-rideable. The info comes from About.com's page about Verbolten which states:

"Using props, set pieces, ultraviolet paint, strobe lights, and other effects, one of three different stories will take place during the indoor part of the ride. The multiple story lines are a first for a themed coaster and should help boost its popularity as passengers return for repeat rides to experience all three sequences, which will include:

Lightening Storm: A fierce storm will engulf the train and threaten to destroy it.
Spirit of the Forest: A spirit will lull passengers with a pleasant-sounding voice, but then turn malevolent and attempt to ensnare them in the forest.
Wolf Attack: In homage to the Big Bad Wolf, a red-eyed pack of creatures will stalk the train."

The info was also reported on Screamscape today.

RE: Verbolten

wow. V-BOLT looks like it packs quite a punch, there are literally so many surprises to the extent that all these elements sounds like the ride would be just like the mummy. (props, special effects, track changing, then launches, dark rides, lit up effects, sounds..sounds like a better mummy hopefully!

for the people who rode it, is it like the mummy or better? or is the comparison wrong? thanks!

RE: Verbolten

Wish my curiousity didnt get the best of me for "lightening". As for the vomitting, i would doubt its just the train. Maybe just some weak stomachs.

RE: Verbolten

Question for those in the know. How are the seats on the ride for bigger rider's. I noticed in one of the photos it appears to have a lap bar. Is it similar to Apollo?

It's closer to CoDK in my opinion, but there's a test seat out front that has a light that'll turn green if you fit.

It's VERY roomy. The most comfortable coaster seat there IMO.

I wish these three stories would be combined in just one ride..

Why? With three different stories that makes this ride the only coaster to do so and it keeps things fresh as opposed to one story that can get old quick.

I heard that employees kept on vomiting on the blue train... Any reason why?

So in your eyes, every other coaster in the park gets old very quick.

RE: Verbolten

Yeah, I probably should have worded my response differently.

All other coasters are likely to get old quicker depending on how you feel about the ride. However, with three separate stories, this coaster is more likely to keep fresher longer.

Or leave more room for failure of one or two stories and revert to just one or none.

Can someone who has ridden the ride clarify exactly how all this works?

Here's how I translate all this:

Lightening Storm = strobe lights and sound effects
Spirit of the Forest = whispering voice sound effect and maybe projected face
Wolf Attack = lite up pairs of red lights and wolf growl sound effect
props = cutout tree hands
set pieces = drapes with ultraviolet leaves painted on them

I don't think props and set pieces means what I wish it did. I really hope I'm wrong and that there is a little more to it then what I listed. At 50 mil, you'd expect a little more then that.

well the color scheme definitely isn't guilty

Unless you are an Ohio state buckeye fan!

I am an employee. Didn't see anyone throwing up. It is a great ride. I saw two of the scenarios. The event building was better then I expected it to be and is quite the marvel. The drop sequence was way better than I expected. All in all, a great ride to follow-up to the Wolf.
