Just got back from BG today and saw the posting about the accident. I was there and saw the person being loaded up into the ambulance. There were also 2 firetrucks there. This is something you never want to see on vacation at any amusement park.

A new accident? I thought the accident occurred on Thursday?

RE: Verbolten

It occurred on Friday. ;)

Lostinacrowd, thank you so much for the evidence. You're seriously my favorite person on this planet right now. :D A link to your post has been added to the main site post with full credit given.

RE: Verbolten

Ok, I take back my previous comments. I realize what happened now, after reading the main site post again closely. I thought it all happened on one day (Thursday).
Sorry Pompeii Sundial for arguing with you on that one. You were right :p

RE: Verbolten

The malfunction happened thursday from what I understand, Friday is when they tried to fix it and the accident happened. Right? Or was it all on Friday?

RE: Verbolten

I doubt a fire happened. They usually come whenever theres a accident. But if an ambulance is there, something happened.

RE: Verbolten

The original post on the main site states that the malfunction happened Thursday and the incident happened Friday.
Apparently a block brake inside the building malfunctioned causing the yellow train to valley sometime on the 19th. On the 20th they brought in winch truck to get the train back up to the first launch so they could re-launch it and continue testing.

Due to the inclement weather in the area, Busch Gardens will be closing at 3 p.m. today, April 22. We're sorry for the inconvenience.

I don't think we will be seeing any testing today for some reason.

That's odd, they usually don't close for just rain.
If attendance is low enough to where they're not making money, they will most certainly close.

It is protocol to dispatch an engine to any medical call. It is protocol to dispatch a Rescue truck to the majority of calls with a vehicle involved. Fire trucks are not just for fire.

RE: Verbolten

That's super weird for the park to close at 3 today. Well we have a week until a possible soft opening and or more testing. What to do until then!!

RE: Verbolten

So, do we think the soft opening will be an all weekend thing? Just Saturday? I really would like it to be at least on Friday because that is always the best day to go - lines are sooo short!

Its mandatory if a train crashes, yes something happened to it. But still NO ONE is injured in it.

RE: Verbolten

I think behind the thrills summed this entire story up nicely.

It would seem that this whole thing was just major over reaction of some fans. While there may have been an accident, it apparently wasn’t enough damage to hinder the testing process as the coaster was seen making full circuit test runs this afternoon. While it’s not uncommon for parks to have problems with valleying or even launches not working, it’s quite something else to have a coaster hitting another vehicle, or smashing into a support. Again, we’ll call this rumor false, dead in the water and done. That’s why they’re rumors folks, and not full blown news.

Overreaction by fansite. Just like the 300 foot launch tower there was some truth in what was reported but details were extremely over dramatized

RE: Verbolten

Might be summed up nicely but it sure doesn't mean they're right. There was a collision. It did damage the yellow train. It did shove a winch truck into a support. It did injure a construction worker. The intensity of the collision, the damage to the yellow train, the damage to the support, and the extent of the injury to the construction worker were the questions we had to answer.

Eye witnesses report what they see. Apparently things looked much worse than they were. We can only go off what other people see and report. We continually updated and refined our report throughout the day (and are continuing to do so today) as we received and confirmed more information. Did you get angry when reporters kept saying that there were almost positively multiple deaths in the plane crash in Virginia Beach when there turned out to be none? They reported on what they were able to gather. That's all we can do as well. We should be glad that it turned out to be as "minor" as it was.

RE: Verbolten

I hope the soft opening will be Friday because that's when I will be there. But I will certainly keep you guys updated while I am there through Twitter.

I'm sorry i didn't clarify...it was indeed on Friday, April 20th. The photo date stamp is 11:28a.m. I was heading to the FestHaus after riding The Darkastle and saw the trucks, ambulance and 2 EMTs loading a gurney into the back of the ambulance. It was weird because it seemed like I was the only person around that saw the rescue squad...no one else was really paying any attention to what was going on.
