RE: Verbolten

Just wondering, will BGW eventually upload another teaser video? The last one mentioned that a next video would go over the plans and stuff, but that was a long time ago. And also- Will the park actually advertise/actually reveal the "Multiple Firsts" or has that fallen through?

I think they will, and no, they haven't fallen through... But for many of them, the GP just doesn't care... Here's a list of the ones I can think of

-First drop track section in the US
-First launch coaster at Busch Williamsburg
-First coaster with more than 3 trains at Busch Williamsburg
-First coaster with a video camera on it at Busch Williamsburg
-First coaster with working lights on the train at Busch Williamsburg
-First coaster that cost more than 20 million dollars at Busch Williamsburg
-First (real, not kiddie) coaster that each train is a different color at Busch Williamsburg

Any More?

RE: Verbolten

I doubt they'd be that crappy, cheating the system with multiple firsts for the park, not America/the world. San Diego's Manta was said to have a state of the art 270 degree projector system (first of its kind) during one of the launches. I thought maybe SeaWorld would hit two birds with one stone and add it onto Verbolten as well.

RE: Verbolten

Not sure if this is new news...but I was parusing (sp?) google and found this link:
https://www.buschgardensnews.com/page/verbolten
If you notice on the top, it says that it is a test press release....this page seems to have more updated info than the normal verbolten page on the website....

-First coaster with no hype.
-First coaster that the marketing team screwed up their job with.

RE: Verbolten

Are the working lights actually confirmed?

Don't think so, not by BGW anyway.

Then again, BGW hasn't mentioned one single time, anything about a drop-track section.

I am confused a bit about the train/car headlights......There's been talk about two modes of lights.

1) daytime mode-headlights come on in FX building only.

2) lights on all the time after dark.

Just seems superfluous to me, and also more of a headache from a logistics standpoint. Maybe I'm wrong, but I figure they'll run all the time or not at all. It's not like the headlights will be distracting if on during the day.

RE: Verbolten

If the headlights do work, it would only be cool at night outside of the building. Inside the building they would just kill the black light effect. That being said, Drachen Fire's trains had lights on them. Not headlights, but red LED lights on the side.

RE: Verbolten

The headlights, from sources, will work inside the building during the day and both inside and out during the night. This is actually very simple to get done. The headlights could be solar powered. Whenever it is dark they simply turn on by themselves like solar powered patio lights. Also, as for the black light effect, the headlights wouldn't kill that completely. It depends on how bright the headlights are and how strong the black lights are. I think the headlights won't be as bright as we expect, but bright enough to still be noticed and cool. The black lights I will assume will be a high output kind, that will be extremely strong.

RE: Verbolten

I can actually see the park putting the 270-degree projector screen on the tunnel enclosing the first launch. I would imagine that it would show vines and stuff trying to grow around the car, or maybe show the transition from Bavarian countryside to the Black Forest. If they add one, I'm pretty sure it'll be there.

And about the lights, I don't know if this has been discussed at all yet, but maybe the headlights for the train ARE the blacklights. Maybe they have a white lightbulb and a blacklight bulb in there, and they just switch depending on where the train is and what time of day it is. Just a thought, but it would be cool if it was.

About the firsts, I can name a few more:

*First launched coaster with a vertical drop element
*Zierer's first terrain coaster
*Zierer's first indoor coaster
*Zierer's first multi-launching roller coaster (Wicked might count but I don't think it does)
*First indoor/outdoor coaster in Virginia (Backlot at KD might count, but I doubt it does since the dark portion's really just a tunnel)
*First coaster at Busch Gardens to recycle a station

It also might have a few records under it's belt:
*Zierer's longest coaster
*Biggest building at Busch Gardens
*Tallest vertical drop element (I think V-Bolt's is bigger than TH13TEEN's)
*Most themed coaster at Busch Gardens
*Most high tech coaster in Virginia (it MIGHT rival I-305)
*Tallest family oriented coaster
*Fastest family oriented coaster
*Most expensive family oriented coaster
*Closest coaster to the Rhine River at Busch Gardens
*Biggest footprint for a coaster at Busch Gardens (not sure about this, Apollo, Griffon, or Alpengeist might have bigger footprints)

RE: Verbolten

Well each coaster has its own records and awards, but I think Vbolt is a major point in the park's history. Being the most high tech coaster, and most expensive.

EDIT: I actually had the same theory of the headlights too. A while ago, I don't think I posted it though.

If they were to have the 270 degree projector on the ride, I think it would be at the drop track portion of the ride. It would provide a little show when your waiting for the track to drop. Also, if the headlights were blacklights, wouldn't it be harder for people that aren't in the first couple rows to see the effect?

The Verbolten HHT

If you had the opportunity to ask questions on the hard hat tour....what would you ask?

What pictures would you want to see?

RE: The Verbolten HHT

The queue, station building, the bridge, and the interior of the trains would all be great. Also, if you could ask about whether or not the headlights actually work, that'd be great. By the way, if you want, we can arrange for your pictures to be posted to the main site. PM me if you're interested.

RE: The Verbolten HHT

Questions:
  1. Is Verbolten on schedule to open on time?
  2. How long will it take for a train to complete a circuit?

Those are the only questions I can think of, atm. Any video would be awesome as well.

I agree but I think they may even have 2 areas with the 270 projection. On the leaked plans, this would be the brake run labeled 5b and the drop track labeled 14a. In both sections, the cars would be stopped, making for ideal show conditions. Just look at the plans, doesn't it look like projection screens rapped around the two aforementioned areas?

The entrance / exit tunnels that look similar are just that, tunnels, to block out the light. If I had money, I'd be willing to bet on this.

My guess as to what you will be seeing:

5b - wolves (Big Bad Wolf?)
14a - the vines crushing the car and dropping ours

Just a guess. That or the wolves will get you right before the drop and the vines crushing the car may actually be a physical prop, which would be cool.

As for the headlights, I think they could be pretty effective in providing a creepy atmosphere. If the props in the show building aren't backlight, and are just waiting in complete darkness, then the headlights could be used as a tool to direct riders attention towards certain props (that is, if they did their math right and have all the props aligned with the headlights properly). This would make them seem to 'pop' out of the dark. They could also turn off the headlights or make them flicker during the show scenes to heighten the tension. Who knows, I may be WAY off course but it makes sense to me.
