RE: Verbolten

Yep, basically everything about the ride was leaked here but later had to be removed due to copyright claims by the park. If you look hard enough, you can still find bits and pieces of them out there though.

HINT: Now that I've said something, I wouldn't count on these things being around for much longer.

RE: Verbolten

From what I saw those tree hands only looked liked cardboard cut-outs, but what Carter described sounds so much better and works into the theme.

RE: Verbolten

Most of the props in Revenge of the Mummy are technically just cutouts with special effects too and that ride is fantastic. Don't count the ride out if we end up not having all the glorious sounding animatronics, projection screens, and everything that people are dreaming about. If well executed, cutouts and special effects can make one great ride.

RE: Verbolten

True, if done right cut-outs aren't too bad, but you know for $50 million I expect just a tad bit more than a cutout, just sayin.

Animatronics are not always a good thing. Expedition Everest at Disney's Animal Kingdom would be an excellent example

RE: The Verbolten HHT

Oh! I just remembered one of the biggest questions I've had ever since the fact sheets came out; "Who designed Verbolten?". I will give rep, if you get an answer to that question.

RE: Verbolten

I know about those leaked drawings but I was inquiring as to whether the exact series of events he described were leaked (the lightning bolt striking, falling into a pile of leaves, etc.).

Also, I think Revenge of The Mummy sucks. As a coster, it's weak. As a darkride, it's weak. It doesn't do anything particularly well. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster makes up for the crappy theming during the ride with a thrilling coaster. Revenge of The Mummy has crappy theming with crappy coaster elements. I think it was when Imhotep summoned his warrior mummies and they simply had some stiff figures pop up (something you'd expect to find at a Six Flags during halloweens, as opposed to a freaking high profile Universal attraction, to which I'd expect them to deliver more then a single animatronic) that I knew the ride was going to suck. It's not much more exciting then Twister and I'm still pissed that they got rid of Jaws before either of those two (not to mention the ride's story about filming the third movie makes no sense, since it takes place in China, not Egypt). The damn thing is already dated as hell.

RE: Verbolten

The thing I dislike most about this ride is what I dislike most about the BBW: the final drop is too small and nothing exciting happens after it. I know we all think it's a great homage to the wolf to follow the exact course but let's be for real, that layout is NOT that exciting. Ron Toomer is my boy and all, but I wish that section was a little bit longer.

Also, I'm really not a fan of the Mummy either.

The headlights, from sources, will work inside the building during the day and both inside and out during the night. This is actually very simple to get done. The headlights could be solar powered. Whenever it is dark they simply turn on by themselves like solar powered patio lights.
The headlights are more in likely going to be charged from a buss bar that will be close to the center of the track and not from solar panel like solar powered patio lights. They are many ways to do this and that can be radio controlled, or trigger proximity sensor under the train that is triggered at the end of the tunnel for daytime ops and a buss bar wipers for turning the headlights during the night, or they can use both methods to control the headlights.

I agree, it could be longer.

RE: Verbolten

I think what he was saying was not that the lights are solar powered, but triggered by photo-voltaic cells... but this can also be accomplished by prox switches
