Not sure when, but KD recently changed how they check restraints and I noticed that trains are leaving a good minute faster than before - anecdotally, as soon as we got to the brake run, the next train left within a few seconds. This definitely led to a shorter than expected queue, particularly when baselining against other ride's lines.

The big change that I saw Thursday from what I remember was that they were going through and checking seat belts and then allowing guest to lower the lap bar and coming back through and checking the lap bar. It seemed a lot faster then the old way of check seat belt the ride ops lower the lap bar.

Can confirm that's how operations ran Saturday. She surprised me when I was asked to lower it myself.
 
They pulled the green train off today sometime in the early afternoon and ran with only 1 train for the rest of the day.

It seems that TT is having a lot of issues for a new coaster.

They put the Green Train back on at the end of the day. I know because I had been waiting in line an hour, and then right as I was next in line they shut down for 10+ extra minutes to put it on😐

Was maintenance working on it while it was parked right next to the running coaster?

What would be the reasoning to pull it off in the middle of the day to have it sit around just to put it back on without any work done?

There was a maintenance technician on the platform directly next to the track when we were in line sometime around 6-ish, he seemed to be checking the restraints on riders-left of the green train.

Maybe a routine maintenance inspection required because of a guest or staff complaint/concern?
 
Could very well be. I believe they had issues with the green train in some of the middle cars getting the seats to show green/good to go on the dispatch screen. I saw a few cycles where they had to unlock and try again with guests of all shapes and sizes.

It was my first time riding TT yesterday and the crew there were sure to, how do I put this delicately? "Test the structural integrity of the Family Jewels" by slamming that restraint down. To the point that even the people in the booth made sure to ask if I was okay over the loudspeaker. I imagine the pained face/guttural groan I made didn't go unnoticed.

In general, the park will try to avoid removing the train if they can. But usually they will pull the train off if a mechanical part needs repair (chain dog, anti-rollback, wheel, bearings, etc.) If there is an issue with the restraint then it will become situational. If a single restraint is having issues unlocking, then they will probably just "tie the seat off" until they can look at it in the morning to avoid shutting down. If the issue involves multiple seats or the entire train, then it may be faster to remove the train while they diagnose the issue.

If you don't see a maintenance guy working on a repair, they might be A) responding to a different rides downtime B) Heading to the main shop for parts if they don't have any at the ride location or C) they may need more man power to fix the issue.

Ultimately, the park is going to look at what is going to cause the least amount of downtime and in this case, it was probably fastest to remove the train and work on it while cycling a single train to at least keep the line moving. Then re-add the train later when it is resolved.

Thanks for the detailed information.

I guess I was mainly surprised that maintenance is working on the train right next to the track while the ride was operating.

They put the Green train on around 6:20. Park closed at 7. There was a maintenance guy watching as the train went on, but I didn't notice anyone working on it.

Jealous. I normally have to pay a lot more for that.
 
Alright……..the good thing happened finally. I rode Twisted Timbers today after staring at it sadly for 3 years. All the meal prep and elliptical runs have paid off! Man what a ride. I actually went over to it earlier and couldn’t get the green light at all. So I left and went to Country Kitchen, then went to Grizzly, then the Parched Pig, then White Water Canyon, then the Parched Pig, then Shenandoah Lumber, then the Parched Pig again and then went back to Apple Zapple to catch a ride before heading to Anaconda to wrap up today…….then out of curiosity I went over to TTs test seat again and just tried going down with the bar under my gut……and I got the green light of all times finally.

This is easily one of the best of the now 125 coasters I’ve ridden (I guess I just had to ride Texas Stingray first this week or something?). My only issue was the huge amount of pain in my thighs during the insane airtime moments. Does that always happen to everyone or just larger riders? It was definitely a little annoying during the ride and rather pervasive to my enjoyment but in my 3rd ride I just kinda braced a little more and it didn’t hurt as much. The first ride I ever had on it I rode in the last car and holy crap this ride is a lot. It’s just boom boom boom the entire time (and no not the day fireworks at 7pm though those were going off in my 3rd ride in the front row). Love it so happy I finally got to ride it. Wish my thighs didn’t hurt so bad during the ride but it’s fine absolutely fantastic and a top 10 ride for me possibly top 5 I know I liked it more than NTAG (my only RMC) back in 2012 which was nowhere near as insane so now I guess I have to figure it out how it compares to I305 as that would be what’s above NTAG for my steel coasters and #2 in my rankings. But whatever I’m just happy I can ride everything at KD again. Got on Dominator too today for the first time in 7 years as well. TT gets a 10 out of 10 easily.
