For example Griffon, there are always a bunch of devices at the bottom of that first drop, and if you think about it, how could a straight down drop cause devices to fall out of a pocket unless it was barely in there on the first place?

To be fair I have lost an iPhone 4 on Griffon's drop. I shoved it in the top cargo pocket without thinking and it squirted out then dropped on the mcbr. Point and case shit happens.

Yeah I was talking about the devices that are at the bottom of the first drop only, yours could've loosened up when you inverted in the immelman, causing the device to shift towards the entry of your pocket more. I totally understand that they can fall out of your pocket, it has happened to me. I just think it is interesting to see how many are just at the bottom of that 90 drop because it is indicative of how many people actually do just drop their phone

Not sure what his appetite is like now but back in 2010 when my friend's dad was still working there (he's since retired), Griffon ate about 3,000 phones that year alone. Apollo's Chariot has a pretty big hunger for them too.

El Toro would have 20 phones minimum found in the ride area every single night before their loose article policy got tightened up. Twisted Timbers was very likely putting up similar numbers.

Cedar Fair itself issues a policy, all phones are prohibited on TT and Steel Vengeance and must be placed in a locker, all guests seen in line with a phone will be asked to leave

I've been told that operators are now enforcing the no-phone policy more strictly. Guests who are seen with their phones out in the station are handed a blue sheet of paper telling them to place their phone in a locker; the blue sheet allows them to re-enter the line from either the Fast Lane entrance or the exit (I can't remember which).

I hope it's fast lane, as having guests come through the exit would delay operations having to hold rows.

The issue isn't necessarily the lack of free lockers. The issue is that one would have to pay for a locker over and over again for multiple times a day. At BGW you have the option of purchasing a locker that can be transferred to different rides. I'd be fine with a system that meets the guest half way, like BGW.

You bring up a good point. If they haven't added lockers prior to the ban, then that could potentially limit the number of people able to wait in line. More people required to get a locker also increases the over all wait for the ride if there are only one or two kisosks per ride. And what if the locker systems break down? That means a lot of people aren't going to be able to ride the big new ride while they wait on them to get fixed.

I understand the need for safety and I know that lots and lots of people are irresponsible with loose items. But at this point I think the cell phone ban and locker system was poorly executed. Not sure if it was a gross oversight or incredible greed, but the situation isn't great for guests wanting to experience the big shiney new ride.

Some people like to go to parks by themselves. Those people tend to.be introverts with no desire to talk to strangers. Just saying....

Considering operations doesn't seem to care that bags are left at the entrances, I doubt the lockers are seeing that much demand in the first place. If the lockers go down I can see them doing what Great Adventure does, and just looking the other way until the lockers get fixed. It's also Cedar Fair, so I could see them going "well the nearest locker is at Flight of Fear, have a nice day."

From my understanding the lockers were a last second addition, they were setting them up during the Media Preview day and even then they went down 2 times in the span of about 15 minutes. Also considering they charge $2 per rental compared to BGW and Six Flags who charge $1, my opinion slides firmly into greed.

I also want to bring up another point some people myself included have situations where it is possibly that they might NEED to be reachable. In my case I have an older parent with a significant illness that I am one of the primary emergency contacts for. While it not a guarantee or even a high provbilty of happening it's a distinct possibility that someone might unexpectedly have to urgently get s hold of me. The thought that I might be forced for a long period of time to be unreachable do to this policy is definitely something that will effect the decision to visit KD as often and timing of visits.

It does suck that they have such a strict locker policy but so few locations for lockers. KD really didn't think this through.

That’s because instead of buying new lockers for the rides, they just moved all the lockers that were in front of the bathrooms.

They are making anyone with a cell phone visible in any way (even in a pocket) take it out of line now.

There are now two or three large new signs all around the entry plaza stating that phones aren't allowed on Twisted Timbers. There is also a loud new recorded spiel playing near the Apple Zapple entrance stating no phones are allowed on the ride. The voice is a little... aggressive, in my opinion.
