It’s sad to say, but after today I doubt I go out of my way to eat at Trappers anymore. It’s just not even close to the quality it was back in the early 2000s and it’s way more expensive. Plus with Buc-ee’s opening on 64 on the way to the park from Richmond? Yeah definitely see my in park spending going down on food.

Too bad it'll be a few years before it's opened, plus it's not like Pierce's is already close by

Buc-ees is at least three years out. Hopefully Trapper's will improve in the interim. Till then...Pierce's.

Take this with a grain of salt of course but the cashier and serving lady both separately told me that salmon is going away (not replaced, just removed) permanently around spring break.

THIS WEDDING IS 🐴💩!

Based on a few old maps I have found throughout the years, it looks like there used to be an eatery named Mackinak Cafe in that area as well. It looks like it is roughly in the same area as current day Trappers.

Edited to add:
Here is a good website that has a short little history about Trappers and a lot of other things in the park. It also has a 2009 BGW Fans article reference about the closure of the original BBW:

We ate there two weekends ago, food is very good. Its a really good deal with the all day dining. Here is my request to BG, and this applies to all of the eateries. Please put the cashier section FIRST. Let us pay, then hand the printout(s) to the food line folks. I *know* that doesnt help the impulse buying of the chocholate cake, but, there is no better feeling then loading up your tray with hot, great looking and smelling food, then waiting in line to pay... then waiting for the person in front of you to find the person in the park that has their membership barcode so they can save 20%, THEN find somewhere to sit and eat, your now cold food.
