I have been meaning to put this advertisement to the test.  There are plenty of rabbits, squirrels, and other varmints running around the park.  With a little patience and persistence, you could get a little exercise, hone your trapping skills, and possibly trade for a SmokeHouse meal. ;)

Looks like the Smokehouse Show Grill isn't operating much these days.  Was told that due to budget cuts, it would only be operating on the weekends.  Also, that the ribs, chicken, brisket and whatever else was being cooked on the Show Grill is now being cooked on smaller grills/smokers in the back of Trapper's.  We shall see...

I sure do miss that smell when walking by the pit. There have to be other things they could have cut out, as they still have to pay someoe to cook the food.

I was wondering why I didn't smell deliciousness when I was in the park last week. :( I'm taking some out of town guests to the park next week and I was telling them about the wonderful aroma that you can smell through the hamlet. Disappointed :(

I didn't see this posted anywhere, but the Smokehouse Show Grill is up and running again. The sweet smells of New France are back, baby!

Once again, the Smokehouse Sampler Platter took the title for the most popular entree in the park for 2015!

Not entirely related to this thread, but relevant to this specific topic: The award for most popular desert in the park goes to the fruit cup, followed closely by the chocolate cake.

Quick question -- anyone know if Trapper's (smoked?) chili starts with the same base as Grogran's Grille's chili, or is the very same thing?  To me, the Trapper's chili tasted identical to the Grogan's chili, with the same very distinctive Guinness flavor, even though the menu description made it sound like something quite different.  Also, unless my palate deceives me, the same chili is served at the Dasher's Diner cafeteria.  (That one's not as big a deal, though I suppose they could've done some '50s Americana-style chili, whatever that might be.)  Is using the same chili (in this case Grogan's) throughout the park something new, or did Trapper's used to have its own unique chili?

If I were to guess, I would guess they are one in the same. I can tell you, without guessing, that the clam chowder in Grogans and Festhaus are the same. (This is the basis for my guess on the chili)

Had my lunch there today with the brisket. Not bad if it weren't so cold outside that it was like eating a meal right out of the fridge by the time I got to the table I sat at.

Everytime I go I always have issues with the wind blowing stuff away. When we went a few weeks ago we had issues with spiders on two separate days. Would be nice if they had a section with walls all around
