In a nutshell: damage control and leaks. Should something bad happen, much less likely any headlines of “TOP THRILL 2 REPEAT ACCIDENT” happen. Additionally, CP Fanboys are a different breed of fans. They will do anything, and I mean ANYTHING to get into areas or footage of areas they shouldn’t be in/have. The video we saw above was obviously someone who had a seriously good camera and was from a long distance away, but still.
Also testing it in the middle of the night ensures no people other than those who are authorized to be in the area are there, and eliminates the risk of any potential injuries should something severe enough occur.

Because the same people who don’t see a problem with testing with people in the park also don’t see the problem with snooping around and trespassing where they’re not supposed to go
I didn’t know dude. Just asking a question

Is this a good sign (inspection before opening) or a more of a “wait till 2025 sign”? What are y’all’s feelings on this

Given we're in relatively uncharted territory, who knows?

While interesting to make note of, I don't think there's anything particularly useful we can glean from this that we didn't already know - Zamperla is on site and working hard to figure out how to get their flagship retrofit operational. Part of that is potentially doing things that may scrape some paint, and/or require additional strengthening of the structure. We simply won't know much else until/unless Zamperla or CP makes a statement.

Soooo…it’s been 100 days since this ride was last open, and we still don’t know what exactly happened to it. So my guess is this is not opening again until next year.

Like the ride has been closed for almost the entire summer and I’m still legitimately clueless as to what’s actually happened? Is there a problem with the trains? The track? Both?

Haven't hit the magical century mark yet but it's currently at 97 missed operating days. It's only been open 4 operating days in some capacity so far, for comparison. An incredible uptime of under 4 percent!

EDIT: the counter I was looking at was out of date by 3 days so today marks the century mark, but at 100 days down and 4 days up it's set an incredible record of 3.8% uptime.

There isn't an official reason for why the ride has been closed but the general consensus has been something related to the trains but what exactly I couldn't tell you with any certainty. A lot of people pointed fingers at the wheel assemblies but if that was the single sole cause they wouldn't have torn the seats down 3 different times over this summer.

The reason for the closure is obvious. Zamperla recently put up a listing, and as far as I can tell, hired, a stress engineer. Obviously, a ride a momentous as this is a huge undertaking and creates a lot of stress. The pressure of having the coolest ride at Cedar Point is not to be trifled with. Zamperla is literally shaking with excitement this year, and unfortunately need to clamp that shit down before they are ready for primetime. It did take all summer more or less for them to hire someone to do this, however, they are well on their way to getting the opening day jitters out and really knocking the teeth out of the competition. I mean public speaking isn't really something I enjoy, so I get it, these things take time.

Yeah, but you’d think they would have had time to realize something was off during the initial testing process before they even opened the ride. I’m hoping they’ll have all the kinks worked out by Opening Day 2025

So, assuming you work for Zamperla's HR, was this because they didn't have a stress engineer? Or are hiring a second, or third? Or replacing a retiree? Or bringing contracted services in house? Oh, you don't work for Zamperla's HR department? Then it's pretty damn hard to make a definitive statement about a coaster from a job listing.

Actually closer to 2.8% when you factor in the downtime that occurred on the four days people were able to ride. On the one Sunday it was open, it was closed for almost half the day.

2025 is the right move. It would be a disaster for the ride to open and close again if everything wasn't just right.

It also gave Cedar Point another opportunity to throw shade at Zamperla, which they love to do.

Alright so if someone threw a lawsuit at Kennywood for not opening Steel Curtain this season, I foresee one coming CP’s way since this is way worse and much later…
