The button was missing on Sunday. I went through the maze a second time to look for it, having just learned about it, but it was gone.

Universals supposedly has a lot of buttons in their mazes lately for people to press. I worry that such a thing might encourage guests to touch other things that they shouldn’t.

The only place I know with a lot of buttons in any of Uni's mazes (at least this year) is Killer Klowns. It's legit two-three walls just covered in bright red glowing buttons for you to push.

It's just hard to tell if you're allowed to touch something inside a maze. I would never have known to push the button inside Vault. I don't walk into bgw mazes looking for things to touch. :/ And that button pictured isn't one that looks touchable unlike the Killer Klowns ones where it's obvious you can touch it.
 
At Universal Orlando, the buttons are big, red, lit up, and right next to you when you go through the houses. They usually spray the person in front of you or behind you with water.
 
Went through twice, first time, didn’t let me push the button (clown didn’t let me), second time, a ringmaster let me (yes!) button is there btw

@Dylon mentioned in the HoS thread about how well Vault was performing with the Circo cast, and I would just like to say despite being in the same group, the front and the back got two VERY DIFFERENT experiences.

Everyone in the group came out saying how well they were performing, and despite the fact that for some reason the pace that was set was at brisk walk, to the point where I couldnt see @Zachary or @Nicole at all, the actors when I finally saw them weren't doing nearly as much as what others were claiming. :/ again not being able to see the front of my own group kinda means they have the time to reset and get ready for their next scare, they had already cleared the room before I even took a step inside.

Bringing up the very back, I got grunts and no movement. :/ Which is a disappointing end to Vault to say the least.

That's something that's really rough about BGW's Howl-O-Scream—consistency. People often come away with RADICALLY different house rankings from night to night because, even when someone wins the lottery and actually gets a great run-through (like I experienced in Vault last night), the people a minute or two before or after often come away with the opposite experience. I believe this has a lot to do with the exhausting scare tactics and long reset times necessitated by BGW's consistently poor house design. That said, the issue is also likely greatly exaggerated by subpar training and a general lack of performance oversight and incentivisation by the park.

Anyway, zooming back in on Vault, despite really not liking its original incarnation, Vault, in its Overtaken form, was certainly my #1 house overall this year. I had some bad runs through it, sure, but, on adverage, it ranked the highest for me over the course of HOS 2019. Knowing that the chances of its return in 2020 are slim to none is really rough. Whatever takes its spot in 2020's lineup has big shoes to fill.

THIS. I am so sick of going through a house, even one full of actors, and seeing them do little more than stand, stare, or if you're lucky, lunge forward and grunt. It's boring and frustrating. I've said this for years but the park needs a legitimate training program to balance the acting out and have characters that are consistently doing something and contributing to the story.

That said, the Vault is probably the one exception to this. A lot of the actors were really getting into the character they were supposed to portray. I especially loved how funny Freakenstein and Igor were - I remember hearing one woman say "Look it's Igor!" and both Freakenstein and Igor ambushed her saying "It's Eye-gore!" This was just a fun house all around. I guess it just goes to show that you don't need big-budget set designs to make a house enjoyable; you just a stand-up cast and a little creativity.
