After watching the steel collossus video, I'd like to see RMC come in and join Grizzly and Hurler together for a Mega hybrid with a few inversions.

Do what you want with Hurler, but leave Grizzly out of it!

With RMC doing all their domestic work with Six Flags I'm pretty sure cedar Fair will have to invest some more money in order to win a contract. Then and again from what I've heard they're still sticking with GCI.

I just don't feel like hurler or grizzly are big enough for that sort of thing. I could see them doing that on Meanstreak or Ghostrider at Knotts though.

after seeing gatekeeper and cedar point, i honestly would love to have a winged coaster come to kd. not sure where the best spot would be to put it, but it would definitely be something different in the area, and potentially draw big crowds.

Though it would be cool, I personally wouldn't be thrilled about this. They're very photogenic coasters and after the placement of Intimidator I don't have much faith in KD's decision when it comes to placement of rides. Not only that from what I've heard they're beyond forceless and kind of boring.

Though it's likely that's what KD will see, I hope for something different. Perhaps a Premier S:UF clone?....wouldn't that be something;)

I think I would rage quit the park if that happened.

But yes, I rode Wild Eagle and while it was a great experience of hanging over the side and the sensation of flying, it is not a great attraction. Visually stunning but a mediocre experience. Most B&M's are the same. Same elements, different order. Not much force, just a lot of floater air. Once you have ridden one, you have ridden them all.

Most reviews of Canada's Wonderland's "Mount Wonder's Guardian" were generally negative and criticized the ride's mediocre experience, and the response to Knott's new dark ride "Voyage to the Iron Reef" has also been overwhelmingly negative. However, the former was a prototype and the latter has yet to actually be experienced (the current complaint regarding the ride's theme). Still, CF seems to have some initiative with these interactive dark rides, and maybe the trend will continue to KD.

One thing of note is that CF seems to be squeezing these rides into clever locations. The one coming to Knott's is going in a smallish, currently unused building on their Boardwalk. That makes me think of a certain building at KD that could easily be refitted to house a dark ride: the Action Theater.

Though that would be a great idea, I don't imagine KD will see an interactive dark ride, I mean we already have BooBlaster. They wouldn't be the same caliber by any means, but I feel like they would fall into the same category for many.

Idk why but I have a gut feeling the next attraction will be something out of the ordinary(whether it be a coaster or dark ride). Hopefully it won't be something in the nature of the previously stated S:UF clone

That's true, but Canada's Wonderland also has a Boo Blasters on Boo Hill attraction, and they were the first to get this new interactive dark ride.

My problem with WMG is the fact that there is no physical props and the queue area looks like they ran out of money and had to make it bare bones. I would much rather see a sally design straight from the book that doesn't have shooting features with anamatronics, screens, and sets.

I wasn't a fan of Wild Eagle when Nicole, Shane, and I rode it (found it short, uneventful, and generally just plain forceless). That said, I wouldn't dream of discounting the ride system all together just because of my experience on one of the first B&M wing coasters. It was smooth as glass (quite possibly the smoothest ride I've ever been on), the rider position was altered enough to differentiate the experience from that of a normal sit down or invert, and it lends itself well to all the grace and speed that makes dive coasters such crowd pleasers. Kings Dominion would be lucky to get any large, custom B&M and a wing coaster would be a unique product in the regional market. I honestly think that it would be a wise course of action.

That said, if Cedar Fair really wanted to give Kings Dominion something special, two words: Flying Coaster.

Back when it seemed like Anaconda was on the chopping block, I thought up a concept for a flying coaster over Lake Charles. In my opinion, flying coasters (or any coaster, for that matter) are exponentially more exciting when they're over water or some type of scenery. A flyer of Lake Charles would be spectacular.

The forums have seemed a little quiet lately, so why not start up some more discussion?

I've been poking around some other sites lately and it sounds like 2016 may be KD's year. If this holds true, then by that time there will have been a six-year gap between coasters, the largest gap in KD's history. So... what do you guys think? I'm not really one to care much about how often new coasters are added, especially with KD's already substantial lineup of coasters, but dammit, six years is a fairly large gap for the park that was once considered the "coaster collector" of the region.

So... Cedar Fair's past additions to the coaster lineup, Dominator and Intimidator 305, have generally been considered solid attractions. Obviously KD really needs something to knock things out of the park, to put the nails in BGW's coffin if you will (Please don't attack me for that last statement. :p).

Anyway, here's my speculation. I would say the next coaster addition needs to go in Old Virginia, because that entire side of the park really lacks a major draw, especially compared to the coaster-packed Safari Village section on the opposite side. Before you say, "Joe, there's no room in Old Virginia!" I actually find inspiration in one of Paramount's planned but never-built attractions, which was a Morgan (Chance) hyper coaster, located on the small strip of land behind White Water Canyon, Dinosaurs Alive, and Grizzly, running along the highway.

A coaster using that location and layout could work nicely. Now, notice how the manufacturer of this planned coaster was Morgan (now Chance), and although they have made some notable hyper coasters, this may have been a reflection of the rumored contract B&M had with BGW at the time. Since 2016 (if that is when KD gets a new coaster) will signify nearly 10 years since BGW's last B&M addition, and considering that BGW's past two constructions have been from other manufacturers, B&M may now be an option for KD. That, coupled with the wild success of B&M's Diamondback and Banshee at KI, as well as the new Fury at Carowinds, may lead to the conclusion that Cedar Fair and B&M plan on working together for a bit(?).

So, anyway, my prediction is a B&M coaster (sorry Zimmy :p) of some sorts in Old Virginia. Maybe a hyper, perhaps an invert, or maybe something else with a similarly narrow layout.

Let's have a discussion here!
