Agreed, eventually Alpegeist, AC, LM, Griffon and Verbolten will all be gone. Nothing lasts forever. What makes a park successful though is when an old ride is replaced with something better... Ok I'm worried now

Let me just say that as much as I love the roller coasters at BGW, I think Cedar Point is a perfect case study in why these rides eventually need to be decommissioned. At some point they just become too painful.

Not that I am saying that currently applies to any of the roller coasters at BGW. Certainly not Nessie, may she live forever.

I have heard many people say that Nessie has stayed the same in terms of roughness ever since it opened. Older arrow loopers were opened as somewhat rough rides, and they really have little change in terms of roughness over their life. Especially Nessie because it was one Arrow that wasn't designed with corkscrews. And that may be one reason why it wasn't given a service life.

Look at that admission price. I feel like some of those specs were a bit exaggerated for example, I thought Nessie only goes up to 60mph not 70?

I wonder if the third "loop" may very well be referring to the helix. For instance, Mind Bender at Six Flags Over GA's documentation from Schwarzkopf considers the 45 degree non-inverting loop/helix a loop when it opened in 1978. Granted, since the reporter says loop-the-loop it implies based on it's aeronautic origin that it is a vertical loop. However, the misuse of that word is not strange, nor is the, as far as modern terminology is concerned, misclassification of a roller coaster element which was only successfully built 2 years earlier.

I got about $36 in real dollars. That is still incredibly cheap. I guess the park has expanded considerably, however.

I do remember Daddy giving me only $25 to spend for an entire day at the park in the late 70s/ early 80s.

Actually I've heard multiple people say that it varies, on wether the car is full or not. When the car is at full speed, it approaches 70mph. When the car is empty it's about. 65ish MPH. It's an older coaster and doesn't grip the track like the other coasters do, plus it doesn't have a Zero-car. In fact they actually say that it reaches speeds over 60 mph in the line, so it seems about right.

On buschgardens.com, "This interlocking, double-looping coaster stretches a monstrous 13 stories tall before racing those who challenge it down a 114-foot drop, with speeds as fast as 60 miles per hour."

Yea but my information is coming straight from Tour Guides, and maintenance specialists, in fact that was one of the main questions I asked them because I read things that said 70 in the earlier years and 60 now a-days so our guide explained it to us. Half of those descriptions on the website, are estimated, and written so the GP understands what they're trying to say.

Not saying your wrong, because I don't truly know. But if that were the case, they would just put on the website "65 mph" or "70 mph". As slow as the GP is, the parks are pretty accurate with putting the speeds on the websites. Alpengeist goes 67 mph, and that's what they put, they didn't round it up and say "just put 70, the GP wouldn't be able to decipher the number 67"

Honestly, most every coaster has an exact speed of up to this speed. I would think any coaster not just LNM would vary in speed slightly due to capacity of the car because more weight or density can increase or decrease the velocity. Think about the little engine that could going up a large hill by it self versus filled with a ton of people? It is easier without the people, increasing speed. With that said, I am sure over the years the top maximum speed has decreased but only slightly.

Have you ever been to the BG face book page and read these people's comments? "Those monsters are so thick headed, I'm pushing a stroller, and they continue to push the fog buttons." One ignorant comment out of 10,000.
