I found out a few days ago she passed shelf life.I already Knew Nessie was 10 years over the hill. The shelf life is 25 years. The matnience said once there out of spare parts there done. If they start running out of parts I hope they let Vekoma help her live on till the day the park closes.

They will go to drastic measures before they tear her down no doubt. They would be the first people to tear down an ACE land mark, which will never happen.

I mean realistically it has to be replaced eventually. Just saying. Eventually.

Like we know dude. But we prefer not to talk about it, and incase you didn't know that date is a long way away. There will be no park if they take Nessie down.

I don't know what exactly makes this the case, but the park is adamant that Nessie is looked upon as "the perfect coaster" and that it was never given a service life like the Big Bad Wolf was. Additionally, Arrow Looper parts will be available basically forever.

I don't think that the park sees it as "the perfect coaster," but it is a classic. It's an ACE landmark. It's the only coaster in the world with interlocking loops. It put the park on the map, and it still really is the best transitional coaster the park has to offer. I don't even ride Nessie anymore because personally I just find it to be too rough, but I would be sad to see it go just because it looks so beautiful there on the Rhine. It's reportedly the most photographed coaster in the world, and for good reason. And since S&S bought Arrow I would imagine parts won't be an issue for the park to acquire.

Actually, that quote was from the tour guides and maintenance people at the park. They have both stated to me on multiple occasions that within the industry Nessie is known as "the perfect coaster" because they claim it is one of only very, very few rides that wasn't given a service life.

Again, I have no clue what differentiates Nessie from any other Arrow Looper from its time or why it wasn't given an expiration date, but that's the official story from the park.

Well then, I apologize; I have no reason not to believe you. I could actually understand how the park would view it as a "perfect coaster" because of its history, uniqueness, and ability to thrill all ages, but their claim that it has no service life sounds ridiculous. Someone's in denial.

If you ask me, though, BGW already has "the perfect coaster" and its name is Apollo's Chariot.

I view Nessie as the perfect coaster because it fits so naturally in the park and they were able to keep it well maintained for so long with no real issue. Also, being an ACE landmark must give one the impression that it was a big thing in roller coaster history. Imagine life without LNM for just a moment.

O_O NESSIE HAS TO STAY! That was my first coaster... That would be like putting a puppy to sleep...A big scaly double interlocking loop thrilling puppy...

I'm going to back Zachary up on this. These words came directly from Nessie's Maintenance Crew and park officials that The Loch Ness Monester is (and may very well be) the only roller coaster that was never given a service life. And they also state that it is considered industry wide as the perfect roller coaster because of this lack of service life. Additionally, there is a company in Richmond Virginia that the park uses to manufacture replacement parts for Nessie, as long as that company does not go out of business they will always have parts.

I am sure due to the very wide number of Arrow coasters that exist in the world that there are multiple companies that make parts for Arrows, that's assuming that S&S's Arrow Division doesn't make replacement parts since the company is still technically part of S&S.

Truthfully Nessie is my favorite ride in the park. It really provides a thrill like no other. I love the drops because it feels like you are going to fall out of your seat. I will love Nessie for the rest of time, and as far as I'm concerned she will always be my favorite coaster. And she still is a favorite with the GP, all the time when the park posts a picture of Nessie, the main thing I see in the comments is "That's my favorite ride." Most of the time there will even be more people who say that Nessie is their favorite, compared to when the park posts a picture of another ride. After 35 years you still make our heart skip a beat.
