So the park just posted this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUhhfDsUk4U

They go through all the special celebrations and whatnot that they've done for all of Nessie's past anniversaries and then announce that they're celebrating its 35th anniversary with special promotional deals around the park. Really Busch Gardens, that's all you could do? You dropped people out of planes for its 15th birthday and the best you could do for its 35th is some special deals around the park? Awful.

That video lead me to believe they would be doing more than just having a Drink Cup.... This doesn't bode we'll for the Park's 40th.

Same here Shane. They showed all these extravagant celebrations they've had and then Mr. Lum showed up to give us a infomercial about a souvenir drink cup. In my honest opinion, it's just plain shameful.

Not even Decals or signage like they did for her 30th. I want Decals, Signage, Pins, Hats, Shirts, Sweatshirts, Mugs, a Commemorative 2013 Park Map with Nessie snaking around the border of the map, and a freakin' Birthday Party with Cake just for her.

^
Then let us buy the cute little Nessie hats from Tweedside Station. I'll get the green one & you get the pink one. We shall make our own celebration.

Hey hey!! There is a special 10% off discount voucher you can get when you buy that piece of plastic. And there are TWO versions available. What else do you guys want?!?! Sheesh! :p

Slightly OT, but does BG sell pins that have the coaster names on them, such as Nessie? I'm a big pin collector.....Would love to get one for Nessie's 35th anniversary if they have it for sale...

They actually do have Nessie and Alpie pins this year. Unfortunately the LNM pin doesn't have anything about the 35th anniversary on it.

Cheap b**tards....Come on! They get rid of BBW & then nothing for LNM for her 35th birthday? *sigh*........ I guess I'll have to be content with pins that signify Verbolten's 1st birthday. (insert sarcasm at your leisure here)

I have a banner made with "Happy Birthday Nessie" and a photo of the ride I plan on having at the meet-up. I "hope" to have some stickers for folks too. If my order arrives in time.

I'm really disappointed I mean what a horrible way to make a video.
"Okay here is some footage from past celebrations. Aren't they cool we really tried hard back then. I hope you're getting hyped because we are going to announce something big at the end! Oh. The footage is done. Well we're selling this cup we hope you buy it."
I'm so upset, they better make up for it during the 40th anniversary. OR ELSE!!!
I mean seriously Verbolten gets this whole big celebration, on the exact day it opened LAST YEAR! And Nessie gets a green cup that they make you PAY($$$$$) for!!! I hope you see how mad I am right now.

Awww come on guys. Simma down now. Life is good.

Simma Down Now

35 years is an amazing accomplishment for any roller coaster, but the 40th is a bigger milestone.

No need to get super angry about anything. I don't know about you Pretzel K- but I'm thinking about buying a Nessie plush and wearing him wrapped around my waist on the ride come the 6th of June.

Got mine!! Well, I will ask my daughter if I can borrow it.

I am very disappointed that it was an infomercial at the end. "For just $7.99 you can have a souvenir cup" It really makes them look cheap and desperate for drink sales. I know some years seem bigger than others but honestly to me, every 5 years is a reason to celebrate and the 35th is just as important as the 40th to me; especially when they celebrate 15 years, 20 years, 25 years, etc. Some signs at the very least would be nice.

Watching that video, I get the distinct feeling that the park knows exactly how shoddy their LNM 35-year anniversary offering is.

I also get the clear impression that the park is happy to showcase that shoddiness in the most direct way possible: by sticking a video on YouTube which features the park president himself pitching souvenir drink cups. ...Immediately after showing you the kind of consideration the park used to have for milestones like this one.

If I didn't know better, I'd suspect that this video contained not just a message for BGW's customers, but also a sly message for BGW's corporate ownership.

But what do I know? Maybe there was money for a better 35-year celebration, but the park had a different reason to downplay the ride's significance...
