Just showed up on Facebook:

Join Busch Gardens in celebrating the 35th anniversary of coaster classic Loch Ness Monster. Visit the Scotland section of our park June 6 at 10 a.m. for your chance to be one of 135 lucky guests to receive a commemorative Loch Ness Monster t-shirt and to be featured in the historic Loch Ness Monster 35th anniversary photo. Guests will also have the opportunity to enjoy complimentary Loch Ness Monster inspired cookies (while supplies last).

The celebration will continue throughout the day, and Nessie riders can purchase a Loch Ness Monster keepsake ride photo for just $5.35. The Loch Ness Monster souvenir drink cup will also be available for just $7.99, and guests can quench their thirst all season long with 99 cent refills.

A fan favorite by park enthusiasts, Loch Ness Monster has offered guests 35 years of thrills on her famous interlocking double loops.

I re-read it and realized what it said. I was actually quoting myself quoting the BGW Facebook.

And Bad Wolf was a one day thing...It's a Doctor Who thing...

From BGW's Blog:

When you ride Loch Ness Monster on June 6, purchase a 6" x 8" ride photo for only $5.35.

I will be taking advantage of this on the 6th! Woot! :D

Nessie turns 35

Well, in the eyes of BG, Nessie is their oldest child who is turning 35 and still hasn't moved out of their basement... at least BBW moved off when it turned 25! No offense to anyone who is 35 and lives with their parents

That's not really a good comparison. Here's a better one.
LNM is the Oldest one of the siblings who is healthy, and still fun, but getting old.
BBW was the one who was in great condition, but it got unexpected cancer, and didn't survive and died.(no offense if this happened to a person in your family)
Verbolten is the baby who everyone pays attention to, and is getting all the special treatment.
Alpengeist, & Apollo's Chariot are the middle children who everybody knows is there, and enjoy's them every now & then.
Griffon is the one who is mad that it's not the baby anymore and is acting up because of it. And with Griffon's maintenance issues this year I wouldn't doubt that it is actually acting up.

I think that's a better comparison, IMO.

Train 3 had to be taken off the track for maintenance today. I was next in line, so I fortunately got to witness the whole process. Basically, they moved what was referred to as the "transport track" to the left so it lined up with the main track, slowly eased the train onto it, and then moved it back to its original position. Not that exciting. I assume they only put it into the maintenance bay once the park closes, because it was there for the rest of the day.

Awh, I wish you got video. I love to see trains being removed and all that type stuff.

Anyways, all maintenance on the trains is done in that transfer track area unless there is major repairs. Then they would send the train into the maintenance bay below the station. The trains are also placed underneath for the end of the year maintenance. Since Nessie rely's on gravity to move the train out of the station and brake runs, they cannot take just friction wheels to back the train back up. They will hook the the train up to a winch to pull it up the hill (backwards) then lock the brakes then slide the transfer table over. Unlike the newer coasters where all maintenance has to do is press a couple of buttons and the train is back in place.

So nonetheless, they try to do all maintenance up there so that they don't have to pull it back up with a cable and have the risk of the cable snapping (Verbolten anyone?).

Most likely it wasn't taken off for maintenance. They probably took it off because they didn't need to run a 3rd train anymore. You see every time a train goes around the track it costs money. So if the line wasn't long and the park wasn't too busy then they can take it off to save some money. That's most likely what they did, I doubt the train had to be taken off for maintenance. Just because a train is not running doesn't mean it is because of maintenance, it's just because they didn't need to run it that day.

Ok. I didn't think of that, I just assumed it was for maintenance. From what I remember, it wasn't crowded, so what you're saying makes sense.
