....I miss the days when the park cared about an event and the product for it was top notch.
The chap in 4D last night was telling CK and us about the cool things he saw at events in the park over the years.

I flew these colors Sunday to show my support of Nessie (and a little protest for lack of for the 35th). Interestingly, all comments about it came from park staff.

30th Nessie Front
30th Nessie Back

Has anyone heard or seen anything about the official photos being taken the day of the 35th anniversary meet-up? I have yet to see anything released from the park. I've been hoping and waiting for a while now.

It was such a fun day and I know there are many Loch Ness fans waiting to see them.

I found this while going through some old stuff. :)

I have that patch. Not sure if you got this one the same way, but I was given this after I fell and skinned my knee tripping as I was going into Eagle's Nest as a kid. The EMT gave me this after she patched me up because I told her the Loch Ness was the best ride in the whole world.

I have kept it all these years and it still has a prize spot in my collection.

I don't remember, I probably just bought it. :p But for 49 cents, come on, how could you not buy it?

With all this talk about the park being in trouble financially, and making somewhat odd decisions and closures (*cough* Europe in the Air), I've begun to realize that Loch Ness Monster may unfortunately be on somebody's radar for eventual removal due to budget reasons. I could be totally wrong, but based on the direction the park has been going, there is the possibility it won't be around for as long as we might hope. After all, it's not as popular as the other coasters, and it undoubtedly is the highest in maintenance cost for the coasters to keep running...but it's still a classic, a park landmark, and still actually brings people and fans into the park. That's not to say it will (or I that hope it will) be removed, but based on the direction they've been going lately, I fear LNM may be starting to run out of time :(. Of course, I could be wrong...but we've always said things like "As long as the park is willing to put money into the ride to keep it in shape, it'll stay around." The question is, are they at the point where they can't put the money in anymore?

I certainly hope not! I mean, keep in mind that this is simply maintenance money for a ride, but it still costs them good money to run...of course they can put more money into it, but will they? Will they?! I say pull the budget out of a horrendous fairytale show and a crazy/cheap nighttime "spectacular" and keep their icon going strong. We all know the day will come when Nessie will no longer be around. But I hope they realize that if they bring that day closer to now than it should, they are going to lose some business (and face angry ParkFans mobs, too.). I hope I'm totally skewed by this and I'm wrong all together, but the park's current direction could indicate some not-so-good things for us. What do you guys think?

And now I'm depressed... :(

GO LOCH NESS MONSTER!!!

And now I am better...

I may be wrong, but since LNM is an Ace Coaster Landmark, doesn't that mean it can't be torn down? I thought I read that somewhere (probably Wikipedia), but I may be wrong.

By the way: NESSIE WILL NEVER LEAVE! :)

Just read Wikipedia, but the Landmark award is given to recognize rides that have historical significance. However, it's just an award that is given out, meaning the park can do whatever they want to the ride. ACE will try to help out and keep said ride running, but in no way can force them to not shut it down. That way if there any structural defects (cracks in supports/ track or cracks in the footers) the ride can close for safety and not be forced to stay open. Because, lets face it, Nessie will soon run into these types of issues sometime down the road, but i'm not going into that, as that is a sad thought.

Safety is #1 concern all around the roller coaster industry. Now stuff like that can be avoided with great care from the maintenance teams when they do their track walks by fixing anything that looks like it could be problematic on the scene. But i'm sure ACE provides funding to make said repairs if the park is not willing not spend the money to do so, but steel coasters cost a ton more to repair compared to wooden coasters.

Can anybody get a picture sometime. I willn't be able to get down there for awhile :(
