The track is really tight together and the cave has no center to it. I dont know where they would put it unless they redo the cave. I think some real strobing lights would be cool.

I always thought that they could put some gigantic dragon eggs in the middle considering that the whole structure looks like a Loch Nest. See what I did there? :D

Go right some negative comments on the video on Facebook. BGW, like most parks, takes social media REALLY seriously

They DID have a strobe light or two & some mist spraying on you in the cave at one time. For a while, there used to not even BE a spiral cave for the ride. But it's disgraceful that they haven't even found the funds to re-light the backlit "Nessie" monster thing at the end of the tunnel before you exit it.

wait the cave was not always there?

^^ Not at first....Not exactly sure when they added it on, but it wasn't there when the ride first opened. Maybe the following year it was added??

Great link! thanks for sharing Bella!

tl;dr for the lazy: The tunnel was there since the beginning.

Well, that may answer the question of when the tunnel was there, but that still doesn't explain to me how is it then that I had seen a pic of the ride WITHOUT the tunnel somewhere on the net? This was before I signed up to this forum...I can't find it again, but I swear by God & sunny Jesus I have seen a pic of the helix w/o a tunnel & a train full of passengers on it.

I know I'm not hallucinating on this one. Perhaps this was right after it was built & just before the tunnel was built then?

(Or are we gonna get into a chicken & the egg debate?)

The ride was built without the tunnel first- as it would be rather difficult to build the cave then go back inside and lift tons and tons of steel track without a crane or lever while hand welding them all together.

After the track was complete the structure was built around the track. That is why there was a picture without the tunnel. It is a construction photo.

I have seen a photo from a different angle and there was a car with people on it. This is VERY CONFUSING!

OK- think of it this way. How many times is a ride tested before it opens? The tunnel was the last part of the construction and is just rebar and concrete with some touches of paint to make it look like rock; something that took no time at all to build.

Probably the team members got to test it like test dummies before they built the cave. They use team members to test almost every ride before it opens.

The cave isn't much, so I'm sure they wanted to make 100% sure everything involving the ride and ride envelope is complete. Verbolten was testing before all of it's theming elements were complete and I'm sure some high ups got to ride it during that time also.
