I was also on that train so I obviously had the same experience.I rode the first train out of the station and it felt like regular Nessie to me.
From my understanding, that is something that maintenance has control over. I wonder if maybe they could’ve been making sure the effects are still working? After all, next year is the ride’s 45th anniversary.im 100% certain i saw a strobe light on nessie a couple weeks back, as well as a very faint roar. it was only on one visit and i havent heard or seen them again. very odd.
What are you talking about? It's running a PLC-5, what more do you need?It DESPERATELY needs a controls upgrade.

I was being facetious, but yes, it is in dire need of an upgrade. 120v control isn't nescisarily a bad thing, but it is usually only found on old equipment. It can be running PLC-5 but the whole system is still generally manual compared to at least other rides in the park. Everything on it is still 120V controls and the last time electrical was upgraded, I understand was the mid-90s.
Thanks! I haven't seen it cycle before for maintenance like this in a long while! The ride was down yesterday and maintenance was cycling. While still very impressive, it's completely normal.
If you do the roller coaster insider tour (which I have, back in 2017), you may get lucky and see it interlock the loops. Thanks! I haven't seen it cycle before for maintenance like this in a long while!
Here you go, keep in mind that it is not my video, I take 0 credit for this.Ooo anyone care to share a link to the video?
Also, wouldn’t it be awesome for them to cycle simultaneous trains through the loops for Nessie’s 50th? Is that even possible with ride operation times? I love this ride so much. It is the only ride that I will make sure to get on at least once whenever I visit. Last time I was on, practically the whole train began screaming and laughing on the tunnel. I couldn’t stop smiling at the timelessness of that helixTaking nostalgia into consideration, it is far and away my favorite coaster. Even with pantheon right down the road
I had heard that it's not really possible since the programming upgrades in recent years. While it's clearly technically possible it's not functionally possible because a normal load time would offset the possibility. When the ride ran 3 trains consistently the blocks were set up to optimize the chances of interlocking loops but it's my understanding that the program can't even run 3 trains now. I may be a little bit off on remembering this explanation as well. Also, wouldn’t it be awesome for them to cycle simultaneous trains through the loops for Nessie’s 50th?
It's also unclear whether this requires stopping a train on either the mcbr or the second lift. If not, the second train is probably being sent the moment the block clears.I had heard that it's not really possible since the programming upgrades in recent years. If the program wouldn't allow it, how do you explain the video above? The way I see it, the program was changed and allowed only a small window to get it right, but the teams running the ride could not load that fast, so they stopped trying. Same reason LNM and Alpie lost their 3rd train. Sub-par coaster ops and short staffing did both of them in.I had heard that it's not really possible since the programming upgrades in recent years.
