Considering the history of the ride and the fact that the park now really doesn't care about history anymore, I'm calling that once they have to make a major significant investment to keep the ride running it will have numbered days.

I'm talking like tearing the lift apart and putting it together significant, or i305 blown lift motor catastrophe.

Why do you say these horrible things? You will upset her!

ssussss now sweetie the bad man did not mean those terrible things. He did not mean to hurt your feelings. no. no. I know, you are not the spry young thing you once were, but you will always be the lady of park. Hush now, you are as beautiful as the day they painted you!

Looking at the video that Mike541x posted, it's definitely water vapor mist, and it looks like it's only at the end of the tunnel. I'm also surprised that there are a lot more lights in the tunnel than I remember (though the camcorder seems to have a light on it so it's a little confusing) and that there were Nessie sound effects in there. If the mist is only at the tunnel exit, I see no real reason why it couldn't be reintroduced, along with the other effects!

Because having the mist just at the exit still screwed with the electrical stuff inside.

- I swear, I still don't understand all the hype this ride gets. It's a decent ride, but the pacing is awful and after that one ride I had last week sitting in the middle, I'll probably never sit in the middle again. I think the park keeps it because it looks pretty and its low maintenance, but I'd trade Big Bad Wolf for Loch Ness any day.

At least with Bolt, every time you stop, you have something to look at (sans the wolf eyes lol).

I don't remember the eyes at the very beginning of the tunnel and I don't remember the sound effects. But I remember the other stuff.

Man I miss the inside of the tunnel being interesting. They don't have to bring back the mist, just the lights and sound effects.

<snip>

It's a great ride if you don't feel like fearing your life. I agree the pacing is bad, but in all honesty I love it the way it is.

Many years ago, LNM was my all-time favorite ride. Dat first drop. I think I realized the intensity of full-on coaster enthusiast types when I read a review of LNM on Usenet about 20 years ago, and the guy criticized the pacing. Up until then I don't recall hearing a single negative word about the ride, ever. Times change.

These days... Being tall enough that the restraint sits awkwardly on my shoulders, long enough in the legs that even a front-row seat in any car of the train is pretty cramped, slim enough in the body that I slide a bit from side to side in the turns, and wide enough in the jaw that the climbing turn out of the first drop gives me an inertial punch in the mouth no matter how or where in the train I ride, I really don't climb aboard LNM anymore. That poke in the chops and the pogo-style chiropractic realignment I have always received from the first loop have finally gotten me to the point of believing it really isn't worth the literal headache for me to ride.

I think the real story, though, is that ride design and fabrication have come so far since LNM's early days that my expectations for ride quality and comfort have changed dramatically. ...While LNM's general ride experience has not changed very much from a dynamics POV.

If LNM were removed from the park, my reaction largely would depend on what was installed in its place. The interlocking loops are the quintessential image of Busch Gardens but I am largely past the point of believing that the ride itself needs to be immortal.

Sitting in the front seat is strange, because when you go down the second drop, most of the train is still up on the curve thing, so when you get to the loop is really when the coaster starts to speed up. Its really weird because you go down the drop kind've slow, then you get a burst of speed up into the loop.

I like that feeling a lot actually. I think it's fun, cause you're not there yet and then you get the speed. c:

(But this could be just me, and the fact that I can't ride any coaster in the back without feeling nauseous afterwards. So I take what I can get from the front of the coasters.)
