I have vertigo and can't really ride much at BG but I try to ride at least one roller coaster with my boyfriend so that he doesn't have to ride everything alone. Last Friday he convinced me to go on Loch Ness with him and he gave me the same advice, holy shit the ride experience is different when you don't lean your head back. I have been going to BG for 20 years and somehow I just learned this.
Also, I found two quarters as I left the Loch Ness station. It was a great day.
I'm 99% positive the downtime late last weekend and early this weekend was because they replaced The lift motor. Other than that initial jolt, there was zero lag-time, and it just felt faster. Stark contrast from the rest of this season.
After riding it a second time, it is definitely performing better. Once the whole train is on the lift, you never have a "fall-back" moment again. It's still not like the second lift, but that one is set at a faster speed.
^ I doubt that changing the lift motor would make it would sound different. The sounds made by chain-lift coasters are almost always made by the anti-rollback mechanisms.
^^^ pretty much what Joe said. Lift speed is still the same, you just don't fell like you're going to fall back down the lift hill when you're cresting the top.
I'm not sure if this is posted anywhere else on the site yet, but it seems to be new. It is a audio recording I made a few weeks back when the Loch Ness Monster was being put back in service after a maintenance issue. While those of us on the Coaster Tours have heard the audio warning, others may not have. Once I saw the mechanic leave the maintenance bay with the paper release in his hand I figured it would be just a few minutes, so I was able to the audio...and first seat/first ride The link is below for the audio. I'm still looking for the BBW Queue Message, so if anyone knows of such a recording, please let me know. Tx!
