The demolition will demote GAdv to a mid tier park, hopefully only for this season.

Ive followed CDI for a while, and since theyre the most qualified to take on a project like demolishing the King, i can say this. If they started loading shaped charges yesterday, the demolition likely wont happen today. The loading, fusing and prep of the structure took multiple days on previous demos and i would guess based on previous demolitions that we will see the demo happen within the week but not tomorrow.

Ill eat my words if im wrong but theyre pretty good at documenting their projects which helps with this project.

Youtube search CDI demolitions - you will see this will be their first roller coaster, but they did the wreckage of the Key Bridge collision last year masterfully, among countless other things like cell towers. It will be sad to see, but done carefully for sure with these guys involved.

I'm at Tommy's and there are probably about 30 people spread out between this lot and the one across the highway. Some workers who were doing demo on the ventilation systems under the ride claimed that the tower won't be coming down today. They believe they implosion is going to be delayed past the permit date. I'm inclined to believe them, but the intel hasn't dissuaded anyone (including me) into leaving yet.

GADV: “alright they’re gone. Blow it up!”

A drone feed from about a half hour ago showed that the hydraulic room is gone. One support column that was above said room (bottom of the launch hill, not part of the tower) still remains. I don't think the structure is coming down today, but if it does, there are about 8 cameras set up and pointing at it from across 537.

They likely won't demo on President's Day. Tuesday and Wednesday will be clear but cold with below freezing highs. Thursday is supposed to have 3 to 5 inches of snow which probably has to be cleared next Friday.

Add another element to this process - extending the FAA obstruction filing to the beginning of March was a wise move. Removal of the bracing supports is going to take some time.
