Figure I’ll share my first ride story since I think others should share their experiences with Ka. Yap alert, you have been warned.
I remember pretty much like it was yesterday, it was during my school trip in June of 2022 (I’m from Long Island, our school trip always was going to great adventure at the end of the year) and it was my first time at great adventure since I had broken my fear of coasters (coincidentally, Batman: The Ride across the park made me lose my fears of coasters in 2021). After riding Superman and green lantern first (which, I actually liked more than ka, It was overall more intense throughout the ride, which I preferred), me and my friends went to finally go ride kingda ka, thing is I count how many coasters I’ve ridden and green lantern was my 49th, so I figured oh let’s make Kingda Ka the 50th one. So we hopped in line, and then got to the station, and I convinced my friend we had to do the front. So we waited. And waited. I don’t remember how long we waited but it had to have been like 30-45 mins total including waiting for the front but finally we got on. And then the reality and nerves kicked in. Shaky hands, legs tapping. Oh yeah, there was no turning back at this point. Finally we roll out of the station and park on the launch track. The only thing between you and that tower at that point was that launch. Staring down that launch track for the first time was one of the most tense, frightening moments ever up to that point in my life. And then finally the fabled “Arms down, head back, HOLD ON!” hit. And then takeoff. Absolutely rocketing down the launch track up front for the first time was insane. Just gaining more and more speed. it was unbelievable. One of the greatest and most intense launches on any coaster I’ve ever ridden, still to this day. It’s still probably my second favorite launch ever (only behind Xcelerator at knotts berry farm which is a punchier version of the ka launch). Finally cresting the top hat and looking out across the surrounding area for the first time in my life was one of the most triumphant moments I’ve ever had. I actually went within the span of a year from being terrified of coasters to conquering the world’s tallest coaster. And not only that the view was unbelievable. One of the coolest sights I’ve ever seen. Finally spiraling back down to earth and hitting the brakes it finally set in, I actually did it. I conquered the king of coasters. Still probably my favorite coaster memory I have ever.
Anyways my little yap/essay is over, I’ll miss this ride so much. An absolute powerhouse, and a legend forever. Long live the king. There will never be anything quite like it ever again.
