I read 25-30 of the over 200 comments on their announcement, and it is like listening to a broken record. The people saying that they might as well get rid of everything else offensive, bother me the most. They are literally suggesting that BG get rid of the whole event. I don't support the decision to remove the heads, but they are only heads. People are acting like the whole event is ruined over some rubber heads. So much useless drama.

HOW DARE YOU DECLARE SOMEONE'S OPINION WRONG, NICOLE! :p

The ramifications of getting rid of props because of a small minority are of a great concern. While I admit that just the heads probably won't hurt the event much worse than it already is, keeping in mind that it's a substandard Halloween event currently, people are really afraid of it turning into a dull and generic celebration.

The state of scares at BGW is pretty sad when the park tries to pass off a DJ as scary. People know this, hence the outrage of any perception of dulling the event.

What I don't get, is how any of this is the park's problem. From what I understood it was the poor taste of the Gazette to have the severed heads pictures in the same paper that described the decapitation situation. That's on their editor, not on a park who had nothing to do with it.

I think it's the principle of the thing at this point. However the ones saying that they "should remove everything else that people might find offensive" do have a point. Everything for Howl-o-Scream can be offensive if you're looking for it. And considering how little the event had to offer to begin with, those heads might make or break the area. (Especially Ripper Row. Since that area is missing an entire facade because of the new snack building.)

If the event had a lot more to it, I wouldn't be as concerned over the heads. But considering how little there is in way of theming already. It's concerning. Not to mention the fact that they listened to 6 comments in a local newspaper.

Some of the comments made slight references to the park and removing the heads from the event.

Also note that there are a few comments buried in their Facebook page that are pro the park's choice and actions. You have to really try hard to find them, but they are there.

Well now they have more than a few suggestive comments on their hands. A large percentage of these facebookers are threatening non-membership.

I noticed 2 in the 30 comments that I read. Both had snarky replies on them.

You see it starts with just one thing then next thing you know it is another then another and when all is said and done all that is left is Lollipops & Sunshine with Elmo singing the events theme song.

Actually Elmo singing the Cursed song might just be very creepy.

Also, I suppose that Comedy Central should get rid of it's latest South Park ad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXuJWyLiU9E

Or what about that SLEEPY HOLLOW show, I believe its on Fox or CW, their new show premiere shows a beheading. I guess everyone gonna have to feel the downfall...NOT

Speaking of, my favorite HOS moment ever happened many years ago while riding the train. There was an actual Headless Horseman on horseback riding alongside the train and it was executed flawlessly. My friends and I talk about it to this day but have not seen it since.

So I wrote the park an a "supportive" email and got a canned response. i understand that part but this whole thing still frustrates me.

Original email: Dear Busch Gardens ...

I have been a Platinum Pass Holder for 10 years and have had many memorable moments at the park. My wife and I even had engagement photos taken at the park.I've recently seen the issue of the fake decapitated heads, that have been at Howl-O-Scream for years. In my opinion the the harmless photo that was shown in Virgina Gazette was to promote Howl-O-Scream and someone who probably never goes to any Halloween event took offense to it and decided to complain. Busch Gardens isn't doing anything gross or obscene and actually have it toned down more than other events such as Kings Dominion, Universal Studios and thousands of haunted houses across the country. Busch Gardens gives the everyone a the chance for a great experience and has always done so and know will continue to do so. Nothing has been made of "The Walking Dead" house at Universal which was amazingly gory and done to perfection or to the headless Horesman experience http://www.headlesshorseman.com/

With all that people have to deal with having this experience is a get get away from our problems and helps us to laugh at being scared, enjoy family and friends and amazing food. I understand the park fell to pressure to issue an apology but know true fans of the park will not abandoned the park but feel let down. I will still fully support the park and even though I live in North Carolina I will attend Howl-O-Scream at least 3 times year.

I hope that others have written in support of the park because we are out there. I also want to thank all the employees at Busch Gardens Williamsburg for providing a wonderful experience in keeping the park clean, great customer service and always smiling. These are the small things that keeps people coming back year after year.
Thank you .....

Response:
Dear Mr. XXXX
Thank you for your interest in Busch Gardens Williamsburg. We know there will be a lot of opinions on our decision to remove certain props from the park. We stand by it. The horrible tragedy and loss of life for journalists and an humanitarian aid worker in the Middle East is unspeakable and we would not want anything in our park to seem insensitive to that. Changing some of our props will not take away from the Howl-O-Scream experience. We appreciate your support and hope to see you soon for a visit.
Thanks again for visiting our website. Should you require additional information, please contact our Customer Information & Sales Center at 1-800-343-7946

Sincerely,
Busch Gardens Williamsburg
Guest Correspondence Team
