So I wrote the park an a "supportive" email and got a canned response. i understand that part but this whole thing still frustrates me.

Original email: Dear Busch Gardens ...

I have been a Platinum Pass Holder for 10 years and have had many memorable moments at the park. My wife and I even had engagement photos taken at the park.I've recently seen the issue of the fake decapitated heads, that have been at Howl-O-Scream for years. In my opinion the the harmless photo that was shown in Virgina Gazette was to promote Howl-O-Scream and someone who probably never goes to any Halloween event took offense to it and decided to complain. Busch Gardens isn't doing anything gross or obscene and actually have it toned down more than other events such as Kings Dominion, Universal Studios and thousands of haunted houses across the country. Busch Gardens gives the everyone a the chance for a great experience and has always done so and know will continue to do so. Nothing has been made of "The Walking Dead" house at Universal which was amazingly gory and done to perfection or to the headless Horesman experience http://www.headlesshorseman.com/

With all that people have to deal with having this experience is a get get away from our problems and helps us to laugh at being scared, enjoy family and friends and amazing food. I understand the park fell to pressure to issue an apology but know true fans of the park will not abandoned the park but feel let down. I will still fully support the park and even though I live in North Carolina I will attend Howl-O-Scream at least 3 times year.

I hope that others have written in support of the park because we are out there. I also want to thank all the employees at Busch Gardens Williamsburg for providing a wonderful experience in keeping the park clean, great customer service and always smiling. These are the small things that keeps people coming back year after year.
Thank you .....

Response:
Dear Mr. XXXX
Thank you for your interest in Busch Gardens Williamsburg.  We know there will be a lot of opinions on our decision to remove certain props from the park. We stand by it. The horrible tragedy and loss of life for journalists and an humanitarian aid worker in the Middle East is unspeakable and we would not want anything in our park to seem insensitive to that. Changing some of our props will not take away from the Howl-O-Scream experience. We appreciate your support and hope to see you soon for a visit.
Thanks again for visiting our website.  Should you require additional information, please contact our Customer Information & Sales Center at 1-800-343-7946

Sincerely,
Busch Gardens Williamsburg
Guest Correspondence Team

That is pathetic but typical of BGW management.

Well really what did yall expect? They are getting hundreds of these things a day. Of course they are using a preapproved and doctored form letter. Anything else could lead to chaos. First they dont have the staff or time for personalized letters. Second they need a consistant message, god forbid some well meaning kid promise somthing wrong.

ABC National has the story.  I cannot imagine this getting much more attention, but I suspect HOS attendance will be up this year.

In Wake of Beheadings, Busch Gardens Removes Props

and the Huffington Post:

Busch Gardens Pulls Gory Halloween Props After Complaints They Were ISIS Reminders
I really starting to wonder something here after seeing how this is starting to get a much more wide coverage by the media.  Seeing how attendance is down across the board for all seaworld parks and entertainment parks it is making me wonder if the park "Staged" the whole thing to use the media to get some free air time and draw attention to it's Howl-O-Scream event. For there is WAY more chatter on the parks Facebook page since this happened then during most of the summer.  All and All my vote now is this was nothing more then a publicity stunt by the park.

Hmmm interesting. Free national publicity for a park struggling with attendance. I was originally thinking that pulling the heads would hurt attendance slightly but now after all this PR I'm leaning towards more Dolly Do Gooders and Whiny Williams showing up for the event which may actually help attendance.

I really think yall are giving the park way too much credit.  Their marketing department can't figure out the right time and how to announce a roller coaster let alone think up this kind of game.
I do not know they were doing a neat job with the "Fake" facebook post before HOS to hype the new area in New France.

The fake blog/Facebook page kinda pales in comparison to the crappy job marketing has done since 2012.

- They totally botched up Verbolten's marketing campaign. Park only received a small bump in attendance as a result.
- The new logo and cute commercial didn't really improve things last year.
- Almost no advertising anywhere outside of HOS and CT. Even CT didn't seem to get much airplay like HOS did.
- Keeping the new coaster under wraps long after it should've been announced. I don't think the park is gonna get much of a boost next year either.

Great. Aw man it just dawned on me that they removed the heads which means they removed the head that they were using in Bitten as a decoy.

Man that was so good. They rolled it at my feet and got me to look down as a distraction, thinking what in the world was touching my feet, and then they'd pop out. ): this is even worse than the Captain's Quarters of CTC.
