I never saw this event last year, just due to me not having time to go. (and actually I ended up getting to the park like a week-week and half after it ended. So everything was down already.)

So I have to ask, I know there was the survey they gave out where they assumed you had gone to the park to see London Rocks, was a similar one given out for SSN?

While I don't believe any survey the park gives is an accurate representation of who enjoyed it and who didn't, since they don't give one to every single person who enters the park. But I feel like something like this is something that would have happened. And considering this area is so heavily military and pro-MURICA, I could see quite a number of people enjoying the event as celebrating the country.

However, this really should be limited to like the week of and maybe the week after 4th of July. Celebrating America for two months in the summer is absolutely ridiculous. Leaving it up for that long, to me feels like it's fishing for false or super warped form of patriotism. And that just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Maybe that's just me though.

As far as surveys go, the park administers surveys every day about general park experience. They typically try to get 25 - 50 people per day to take surveys. I've seen so many people reject their offer to take them. I've taken a handful myself. These daily surveys typically cover what is going on at the park during that day; therefore, in a way yes they captured some data, but that wasn't the big focus on those surveys. The London Rocks surveys were solely based on London Rocks.

As for the event as a whole, I would be fine with just the San Marco Bridge dressed up a bit and fireworks. You keep the main thing that drags in a lot of people in the evening and then you get rid of smaller things that don't drag people in necessarily.

I can see the bar being profitable since many people enjoy alcohol, but the grill never seemed busy to me. People did take a lot of pictures of the Statue of Liberty though. I hardly saw the bald eagle on display in San Marco, but when it was there people enjoyed it and it gathered a small crowd.

Another good way of hosting the event to it's fullest would be to point out certain aspects from each of the countries that has helped America become a melting pot. Such as Statue of Liberty from France, Hot Dogs originating from Germany, etc. They could have more subtle bits of the event in that way. After all, putting a Statue of Liberty in France wouldn't hurt the theming that much since there is an actual Statue of Liberty in France. Or putting a hot dog stand in Germany.

I'm well aware the London Rocks survey was solely based on London Rocks. It's why I was asking if there was a specific survey for SSN. I feel like there should have been a specific one for the event.

Also, besides the fact that many people would reject surveys and the fact that from what it sounds like the surveys have very specific worded questions that the information can easily be skewed, 25-50 is like not nearly enough information to gauge any sort of interest or disinterest on anything. There should be a higher goal amount per night, considering the park brings in thousands per day.

Oh boy! Yet another summer where we get to hear inexplicable porn jokes!
Yes...why is it being called porno nights?

By the way...I think the event would be better just on July 4th week...weekend..not for 2 MONTHS.

I can't understand why the park thinks that this is a several-month-worthy experience. A couple of weekends up to July 4th seems like plenty.

To be honest... The event isn't the best but its a fine event for aldults, and well... I think we need a patriotic event that celebrates america at the park. Plus I always like to see fireworks displays including when the event occurs over my birthday

They do roll the hotdogs across the grill before they go on the bun. Nothing says 'Merica' like lazy cooking practices.

Are the surveys at BGW long like the one I tried to take at water country last year. The water country one was on a computer near the exits. I thought, sure I can answer a few quick questions about the park. 10 minutes later, I see no end to the survey. I ended up bailing. That was the longest survey I have ever taken. I saw someone else next to me leave before the end of their survey as well. The cast member staffing the survey then proceeded to complete the survey for the person. I suspect that the same thing was done with my survey after I left. I am guessing that the staff member was not as honest about the park as I was up to the point I left.

ETA: Not as honest

This is why Tampa uses third party groups to get a non-biased assessment. Carl Lum himself takes those surveys as gospel truth of what people think. The problem is that this holds no water at all, because every department is taking advantage of this poor method. They sabotage it in any way they can.

I remember doing a survey last year (late July time frame) after making a purchase in a store. It was someone from a 3rd party company (she said she is not employed by BG or Seas and showed me her ID from the company she's with), and asked be about 20-25 questions about why and what led me to make a purchase at the store. Most of the questions were about the variety merchandise selections and what I thought about the prices.

Seems like BGW's surveying goes something like this:

"Hello, sir, have you been enjoying Star Spangled Nights? You have? Oh, that's wonderful! How would you like to take a short survey about your experience?"

Alternately...

"Hello, there! Have you been enjoying Star Spangled Nights? No? Oh, okay then. Have a nice day. Goodbye, now."

Yes, when they did Merchandise surveys they use a third-party company. I remember seeing them hang out just outside the park, they were dressed in plain clothes and actually asked questions directly and recorded answers on the spot rather than use a computer.
