The fireworks were awesome, and the audio wasn't as stereotypical as I thought it would be. It had some quotes from famous and important documents. and speeches and did celebrate American heritage. The Statue of Liberty was awesome, I must admit, though I wish they didn't plan on having it up until August (which is plain weird, as I said before).

Honestly, the music they play in San 'merica right now, is no worse than the Frank Sinatra crap they play during the regular season over at Il Teatro Di San Marco. It's American music, but somehow it feels a little Italian.

Decorations are still pretty terrible.

While the decorations are still pretty terrible, and the bridge looks like something straight out of a Six Flags park, the Fireworks show was pretty awesome. They were choreographed to some great music, and the voiceovers were simply inspiring.

I took some pictures of the fireworks from last night if anyone would like to see some.

By the way, the music they play after the fireworks is very majestic and inspiring, and isn't American. If you're like me and hate the recent music change in Banbury Cross, after the fireworks is the perfect time to hang out in Banbury.

I got to see all of the decorations first hand today and they look terribly cheap. While nosing around, I asked the supervisor at the grill booth if there was anything special about the hot dogs. He asked,'what do you mean'? I said 'this is a special event right? are the dogs special? Did they come from New York? Chicago? He said 'No, there is nothing special about them'. But what really rang in my head was, there is nothing special about this event. Everything else about today's visit was awesome though! Took it easy, rode everything we wanted to, and lines were no issue. Caught the last 2 minutes of the fireworks on a perfectly timed ride on Apollo! It was a ride I will NEVER forget! (I had never even had a night ride on this before)

The event is special to the park. They do not have those decorations every day the park is open year round. They don't serve those types of hot dogs every day. Thats what makes it special. Its a limited time only type of thing which makes it special.

What "type" of hotdogs are they?  Are they Nathan's or perhaps Hebrew National?  (my personal perfered brands) Or are they another high quality brand?
Or are they just a different type of generic 85% beef dog.

They were boiling them Zimmy, and the skin was coming off of them exposing tumor-esqe bubbles of mystery meat. They may be the best tasting hot dog ever for all I know, but I prefer my dogs with grill marks and a firm skin.

Unless you are serving them from a cart in downtown Norfolk with onions and mustard (Norfolk style, if you did not know) Hot dogs should never be boiled.

^Ha! Something else I noticed yesterday in 'San-Merica' is, the columns that were engulfed in ribbon were scaled down at some point over the weekend. The pictures I saw on here showed them completely covered, but yesterday, there was only a thin red/white/blue ribbon down the length of 2 opposing sides of the columns. I wish I had taken a picture, because it really did look much better than the completely covered column.

Oh, by the way, those columns whose top's were crumbling had a wooden box on top of them because they couldn't secure the banner directly to it, due to them being in such bad shape.

Oh boy. Grilled vs boiled hotdog, now that could be a debate in and of itself. How about we get back to the bacon. Talk about good stuff. Wash it down with some Big Squeeze Shanty... YUM.

By the way the Statue looks pretty great at night.

Edit: Sorry about it being flipped on it's side
