Actually the fireworks show will not be any more generic than previous years. The music the fireworks will be choreographed to is a special arrangement made especially for the park.

Original 'Soundscapes' right PR? ;)

Full post coming in a few...

What happen to all the flags behind the Victory Canteen sign? Note how the sign is on steel girders that are not even there to support the structure, but there for design aesthetics.

I can't wait to get to the park to see everything myself. Things are looking much better than I expected.

EDIT: Anyone want to tell me why crumpled sheet metal represents the USA?

Although it is consolidated to a single hamlet, at least Illuminights kept the park the same during the day, and didn't ruin the beauty of the park's most beautiful hamlet.

Thanks Lukemcnuggets for the pictures!

Well, I think the decor is better than I was expecting, but SO MUCH of it in such a small area is a bit of an eyesore. Especially when San Marco's existing theme sort of clashes. Why not Festa, I wonder? It seems like the sparkles and banners would clash a lot less there.

The Statue of Liberty, famous for being a gift from France, is located dead smack in the middle of the park's Italian area! o_O

This.

See, when I first heard about this event, I was hoping they could take America, and blend it into Europe in a logical way. Like they could put replicas and models of American landmarks, or events. And put it in the hamlet from which the idea, and/or object the European country it originated in. Put a plaque about how that thing or idea influenced America through Europe, and Boom! You got yourself a non-flashy, yet educational event. Then to top it off, you could bring back the Here's to the Heroes bridge, and have a nice American type firework display at night.

That is what I was hoping for, however we all know Scott couldn't think logically enough to make an event like that, so instead we got San Marco turned into San 'Merica.

Sorry to play devil's advocate, but I kind of like the decor. It could have been a WHOLE LOT WORSE!! It doesn't look amazing, and it definitely doesn't fit the theme of San Marco, but I still like it. Can't wait to see it in person.

I cant help it.....That canteen/bar thing looks really really awful. Painting up some plastic and tin foil red white and blue does NOT instantly transform it into Americana. It transforms it into red white and blue tinfoil and plastic.

Edit....BGW has always been a 'stop and look' park. This screams 'look the other way'.
