Interesting that this basically confirms we're in limited event mode until May. (Also, I have no idea when I want to go to the park in April, but I'm guessing they're trying to accommodate the people starting to plan vacations, which is fair).

Exactly the boat I'm in. Itching to get the sessions booked for over a month from now when kids have their break. Was very happy to see the rezzie calendar suddenly extend fully through March and April tonight.

I assume the remaining coaster closures have to do with off-season maintenance requirements.

As for the event, it’s easy to imagine this will be far and away the best event yet. Having the whole park area open again is going to be a game changer to the park experience. Not to mention we get better Pantheon watching abilities now!

6,000 people baby!!
Here’s the full quote
“Furthermore, operations at the Company's Busch Gardens Williamsburg park in Virginia were significantly impacted by capacity limitations where attendance was limited to only 1,000 guests at a time in the park. On October 29, 2020, the State of Virginia revised its theme park guidance and modified the methodology for calculating restricted capacity at theme parks. This change allowed it to increase the capacity at this park from 1,000 guests to approximately 4,000 guests at a time. On February 1, 2021, the Company in consultation with the State of Virginia, increased capacity to approximately 6,000 guests based on revisions to the methodology for calculating restricted capacity at theme parks.”

I would expect to see reservations for a while into the reopening. SWO and BGT both don't have any capacity restrictions and both still have reservations.

My guess is that they will continue to use them for the foreseeable future.

Makes sense if they could make it work in non-pandemic times - they can get a good idea of attendance ahead of time to a degree to plan for staffing and opening various shops, food/beverage stalls, and proper amount of ride vehicles ready where applicable.

This would be my thought. I have to imagine they can materially tighten up their labor and supply chain costs just by having a decent idea what the actual daily volume will be.

The biggest item they need to fix is that it's way too much effort to actually make a reservation from an IT perspective. Get that thing to a couple clicks and it will largely be a non-issue for customers.

Speaking from experience with handling surveys and suggesting site user experience improvements for my employer, it can be really tough to simplify such processes on the technical end of things even if it seems really simple as an idea.

In our case, we have a vendor that handles account management and transactions whom take a long time to make marginal improvements to their processes (months usually) if they can even make changes (core coding issues). On the rest of the website setup end, we have a tiny development team that basically has little time to work on any such improvements that aren't already scoped into other projects - they're asked to do a lot and they do deliver, but it takes awhile.

So my point is, unless SEAS has a relatively large in-house team or a dedicated vendor able to appropriately staff and complete work in a rapid manner, I wouldn't expect them to have their stuff all that together. Bubble gum and bailing wire, tap screws if you're lucky.

I'm happy to see the coaster lineup is changing, at least, after 4 months.

Also noticed this next weekend (last of Mardi Gras, warm) was already full as of last night for member reservations.
