We got the Bangers and Colcannon today and they were the best I have ever tried at BGW. Maybe it is because they have to make so much more for Food and Wine, so the quality suffers? Regardless, I recommend trying them.

I think it was in 2017, passholders preview day fell on St. Patrick’s Day. The bangers and colcannon were fabulous, never as good during F&W. Sadly, I recall they had run out of Guinness mousse by the time we wanted it that day ?

The Colcannon was quite watery on Saturday. The Bangers were spot on. I think they may have changed to a different supplier as I noticed the casing was different. It was not very thick nor chewy.

Parking is pretty busy already this morning. I miss being able to use the employee entrance!!!!
Got there around 12:30 and the line to pay was backed up towards 64. When we left, half the Germany lot was full.

There were way too few attractions and eateries open for the crowds there. Ride lines spilling out to the walkways everywhere. This reminds me of when HP reopened last year, where they badly need to get enough employees staffed up to deal with the crowd demand.

This really felt like the case. The difference between Member Preview day and today was most obvious in the ride queues. We left today after being there for the full session and only got to ride one ride. Had a few more options been open for people, I think you’re right, it would have alleviated some stress elsewhere in the park.

I arrived today shortly before 1 PM. I almost paid the $20 to do the England lot then decided against it. Glad I did because they were directing us to the England lot anyways because France was full. I guess they opened up Germany after a while.

Lines were long everywhere. Festhaus reached capacity around 2:45 PM. When we walked past Verbolten around 3 PM, the queue was out to the bridge.

I really wanted the Guinness mousse but the line was long every time we went by. Finally, on our way out it was decent. Whew! It was super tasty, as usual. :)

Time to comment on the hard work BGW put into NOT thoroughly thinking something out, nor simply checking before acting. I see four leaf clovers all over this event. A four leaf clover IS NOT a shamrock and DOES NOT represent Ireland nor St. Patrick. Is has to be three leaves to represent the trinity and Saint Patrick. Why does the park have such a hard time with things Irish?

Here BGW, try his next time - Wikipedia - Shamrock.

Wikipedia said:
Not to be confused with four-leaf clover.

So, a shamrock is made up of three leaflets. Three is significant in the Christian religion because of the doctrine of the Trinity. Which is why Saint Patrick used the shamrock's THREE leaflets united by a common stalk. By definition, for a clover to represent the Trinity, it would have to bear three (and only three) leaves. So while they might bring Luck 'O the Irish, four-leaf clovers can't be considered shamrocks and do not celebrate Saint Patrick.

If you are gong to really celebrate something, and not just use it to sell tickets, do it right instead of insulting it.

Oh, BTW, even Oriental Trading can get it right. Admittedly, I'm seeing this Americanization in society outside the park, yet no less insulting just because "everyone" is doing it.

Hey BGW just look up.jpg

It really is a douchey holiday now. I used to really enjoy it when I lived in NY but it just seems tacky now for some reason.
Because it's turned into a Fratboy McBroChuggs rapey-drinky event.

I'd talk shit about Irish Punk but I have friends in some of the more famous bands who do that and it's not their fault.
