Unless you are essential personnel, Management, etc I would not expect a raise. Even then, I bet they would pushed even harder to make their set numbers. Maybe bigger bonuses at best. Year-round ops means higher cost, why would they go and give everyone raises because of that? Workers would get more hours, that's the raise.

(and yes, i'm working lame management jobs as I go through college. I'm not a genius at this, I just know how it works.)

This is a good thing for the seasonals if they go to a year-round operation. This means they will give them benefits and overtime, which is another form of a raise.

Both of those things have to do with hours / pay period (don't know what it is at busch but it is certainly equivalent to 40 hrs / week).

You are correct with your point. But, when you add overtime into the picture, it can feel like a raise to some people who don't normally get the overtime. Some people base their overall pay on overtime and even get upset when they don't get the overtime.

Last summer, you started getting paid for overtime when you get more than 60 hours per week. But it resets the next week. The most you could ever get would be 120 hours in a pay period because they schedule people to not get overtime. I only knew one person that ever got above 60 hours a week, and it was like 62 or 63 hours.

Yep. And a "year round operation" is not going to change that.

Not certain where to actually post this, but this thread seems to be employment themed. This past weekend (Sat, 14 Jan) was the in-park employment job fair. Any confirmation to the rumor that the employment seekers were so numerous that the gates were eventually closed to late morning/afternoon applicants?

hey swift you wanna change this to the employment thread and start a new brewery thread....rofl

Stood in that line for about two hours only to be turned away after filling out forms and waiting in another line (for about 30 minutes).

It wasn't fun, but it did feel good to be in a theme park again.

I'll probably call them later to schedule an interview. Spending summers at home is boring.

There was over 15,000 applicants and on top of that, they stopped letting people park around 11:30am from what I understand.

I remember last year the process was 1. Park 2. Wait in bus line 3. Ride bus 4. Wait in Festhaus line 5. Enter Festhaus and get application 6. Fill out application 7. Wait for initial interview 8. Initial interview (if you pass) 9. Wait for HR meeting 10. Meet with HR 11. Leave

I am sure it is much more complicated now.

Gavin started this thread is to discuss the simple question; What if BGW bought Anheuser-Busch Inbev's Williamsburg Brewery?

I don't have a problem if someone wants to start a new thread about employment at the park. But, we were talking about what kind of employment opportunities would be available at the park if they went to more year round schedule.

Well, if the park bought the brewery, which will most likely happen due to that brewery's current income that has been aid to be doing not so great, then the park can build a SeaWorld. If they build a SeaWorld, I doubt they would ship animals back and forth to keep with seasonal operation, so I would assume the park would go to full - year operation which animal facilities that can house the animals in the coldest of weather.

With a new SeaWorld, think of the job increase. If a job fair for just WCUSA and BGW was too successful they had to send people away, think of what adding a SeaWorld would do?

Also, after the land purchase, I think Blackstone will move to York. Just so they can further expand with less restrictions.

Does this make logical sense?

I was just summing up everything that took all these pages and condensed it into a thread, to help keep on topic. The biggest jump is the SeaWorld idea in my opinion, but everything else seems logical. You know if a = b and b = c then a = c type of thing.

Saying that it "will most likely happen" is going way above and beyond what I think any of us have said thus far. There is a chance that it could happen. None of this is based on facts of any kind. Literally this whole thread (aside from the rumors that the brewery is under-performing) is pure speculation.

^^ Agreed, and that was my point in that summing up things was simply it is all just guessing games right now, but there is no real proof of anything happening any time soon.

The idea was to talk about it. I think there's good chance to the park will move to a year round operation even with or without the brewery closing.

If the brewery did close, a big if and Blackstone opened another Seaworld park, which will be a smart move for Blackstone and it will be the smallest of the animal parks in the chain. Also Blackstone will need to use the whole property that the brewery sits on too make it worth it to them.

When and that's when, they opened another Seaworld park they will have one big problem that is the increased traffic around the park just like they face around July 4. This means the park will be needing to use the extra parking lot, since they will not have the room on the brewery property. Since this lot will need to be use for a good bit of the summer season, which will increase the traffic on RT60. In order to keep up with this increased traffic on RT60, they will need to build a bridge or tunnel to move this traffic off of RT60.
