This is upsetting but given the absolute neglect that Six Flags has given this ride (and all of their trashy parks) it’s not surprising. This was the last 4 cable model and it was absolutely grand.

The ride could have absolutely been renovated. Dopplymayr acquired Von Roll and still produces parts. Another attraction that everyone can enjoy into the trash. Further limiting their customer base to thrill riders and little kiddies.

Sadly this is the repeat of what happened to Dorney when CF bought it years ago. One of the first things CF did to Dorney was to rip out all the unique rides and destroy that park's charm.

I still find Dorney to be charming.

Not like it used to be. I am amazed they have not removed either the Zephyr train or classic Whip. I still miss the power boat ride, skyride, and Journey to the Center of the Earth.

I think my biggest question now is what happens with the other side of the fort? It's a beautiful building and I'd absolutely hate to lose it, would even rather it sit vacant.

Obviously not concerned about losing the Dream Street station considering it was always going to be the lesser of the two and was never even finished to that extent.

The fort station is a steel and concrete structure with a log facade with two big counterweight shafts. My feeling is it will sit SBNO for awhile. As it would be expensive to demolish it. The dream street station would be easier to demolish as its just a glorified car port. Originally it was planned with the fort to allow guests to walk around in the towers. Right before the park opened to the public they decided against it.

Also, I’m assuming that side of the fort supports some of the Mine Train ride structure, I’m sure it’s not going anywhere.

This is also the ride i'll most miss of the ones being closed. The most upsetting loss. I did really like KK, but I got a bunch of rides on it and I imagine whatever replaces it will be at least good, maybe great. And a coaster. The sky ride is just going to be gone with nothing like it replacing it.

given the locations of the station I say the frontier adventures station becomes the new vip lounge or maybe some museum while the lakefront station can house a new flat ride for the lakefront area

Agreed, at least KK will be replaced but both the skyride and parachutes will likely not be replaced by anything. Especially as this was GAdv's only transport ride as well as its historic and iconic significance.

I think Great Adv. should replace the Skyride with a new like WDW's Skyliner. The only change I would make would be to extend the route to the Great Arena on one end and the stunt arena on the other-and make a seperate line that goes from the main park to the water park.

Almost all of the Six Flags/Cedar Fair parks are in need of transportation rides that everybody can enjoy. However, they have chosen only to invest in rides that attract thrill, riders and little kids and don’t want to attract other people. The removal of this ride with no similar replacement further confirms that

To be fair, this doesn’t seem to have been a planned closure at all. I know it was SBNO the past 2 seasons, but it was on the park map at one point this year, and I doubt it would’ve been if they had anticipated it never seeing another rider.

It’s gonna be so bizarre walking into the park and not seeing the Skyride running. Haven’t been to the park since 2021, glad I rode it one last time I when I was there.

Unfortunately transportation rides are a thing of the past unless they are “needed” (like connecting parts of a property or as a way to make things more accessible). When people ride a Skyride or a train they bypass all the games, food, merchandise that the parks rely on for impulse spending. They want you to spend money and when you’re riding over or past it you’re not spending.

Yep, it’s all about gouging as much money as possible out of each customer instead of providing the best experience

You're not spending if you're standing in line either, or doing many of the things that get people there. But it seems reasonable to say that those who find a skyride more important are more likely to spend in the park. Not that I favor everything being that logical, but in this case it is.
