That may be one of the sheds they added for backup generators. In 1988 as part of the safety sweep they added flood lights to each of the Skyride towers and generators in sheds at the base of each one. The Parachuter's Perch also had them added. Any time power goes out to the park they all kick on. I assume that's why the towers have not been fully removed as well. When things would "get bad" during Fright Fest they would also turn them on.

I'm sorry you never got a reasonable reply. Perhaps things were still up in the air when they received it. I know there were a lot of people talking about the ride as local radio stations picked up on it. The park has to know people loved the ride.

Regardless, it will be missed. It's definitely sad seeing the ride's supports without the wheels on top and slowly being shrunk down. :(
I always knew we weren't going to bring any new information to the table that the company didn't already know. My best hope was that maybe this could escalate things to an individual with power that wasn't as involved. We tried.
Attention Guests: We have heard your complaints about the condition of The Shed loud and clear. We take matters like this seriously and are working to beautify it. Thank you for your patience.
On another note, this made me chuckle. You have a good sense of humor @Great Adventurer.

Seeing the posts of the Skyride cars in the Boneyard made me wonder, will the park ever invest in another Skyride/transportation type attraction? It's an incredibly spread out park, and the layout would lend itself well to a train or another gondola circuit, but I remember hearing there's been issues in the past with construction impacting the woods around the park, and insuring attractions like a Skyride in particular.

I wonder if the cars can be reused for photo ops similar to what happened with rolling thunder trains

More likely they will be sold off eventually to souvenir serkers and such. See Le Scoots logs, Nessie cars, the Lemas cars as examples that there is a market for such items
