Unless the fact that KK already had the height variance carries over. Remember that SFOG took out their 200’ parachute ride so they could put in the 200’ tall Goliath coaster. I would imagine replacing one thing with another of similar height may get grandfathered in. Building something taller would not…

Depends. If the township or FAA want to be asses because work started without all i’s dotted and t’s crossed they can make life absolute HELL for SF/SFGAdv. All the way to the point of basically blocking it from being built.

I also feel like something like this could be easily exploited. A park could just say that since they had an attraction that was say 300ft once upon a time they could use it as an excuse to add another attraction of the same height without getting proper approval. Doesn’t sound like something that’s allowed.

Someone said earlier in this thread that they’d need FAA approval just for the cranes necessary to build a 400 foot coaster, so I’d be shocked if they could get away with this.

I think the speculation on the FAA is comical. Corporate America has so much red-tape inside the companies it would need sign off from 5 different divisions inside Six Flags for them to start digging the first hole.

It is safe to say if it needs FAA permission then they probably already have taken care of that.

Possibly. There’s typically an envelope that the high point applies to so some parks and places have had the ability to slip another peak in that envelope, but it’s rare. And it’s really hard to use a grandfathered high point location for FAA. They generally want logged exact heights, GPS location, where on the structure the light will be, ect.

Basically starting this sequence without that is a major issues potential.

Footers are clearly visible now, each seem to be in a circular shape

All kinds of discourse on the comments on this one. Some claim there’s signs it could be Mack, others say Intamin. It’s probably too early to actually tell, no?

I'm so excited for this progress!! Time will tell as things unfold.

Yeah it's definitely a bit early to tell just based on the rebar cages alone. The anchor bolt cages and support columns, whichever shows up first, will definitely be one of our first signs of who it is. But truthfully, just based on the rebar, it's pretty difficult to tell unless you've really done your homework.

From the angles we have, it looks like we'll be seeing square pier caps as opposed to round ones (pier caps are what the actual support columns rest on), but it's entirely possible we see a mix of both. AlpenFury, for example, has a mix of both round and square pier caps, but their base plates are typically hexagonal in shape as opposed to circles.

I have observed that Mack usually sticks to square pier caps for their coasters, since most of their base plates are square (e.g. Copperhead Strike). Intamin tends to fluctuate a bit more. For example, Velocicoaster has round pier caps, whereas rides like Toutatis and Georgia Gold Rusher tend to favor square pier caps.

There's usually reasoning behind each shape, but it can vary based on a variety of different factors like ground conditions, load distribution, construction methods, or just manufacturer preferences.

I think mapping out where the footers are located will help us slowly see what kind of coaster this may be. It’s hard to tell from that video, but it doesn’t seem like those footers are where the Ka tower was and are too close to Superman for the tower of the Mack Tower Coaster to be located there. I feel like they would have started with the big footers of the tower if it was a Mack Tower Coaster.

I remember someone made amazing scaled diagrams of the progress being done with footers for Jersey Devil on the Great Adventure History forums. Helped us get an idea of the work being done.

I was actually the one who did those Jersey Devil mockups, I'm glad to see someone remembered them! Lol. I'd love to dedicate time to do those again, but life has since gotten much busier and Great Adventure isn't my home park anymore 😅

If anyone is up to the challenge of doing a little mockup for us, I think that'd be a great idea!

I know lately I’ve been the “someone in comments” guy - and you know what, I’m gonna do it again 😂

Someone mentioned three shipments from Intamin in May, June, and July that are pretty substantial

The shipments were for the Toro retracking project I believe.

Wasn’t some re-tracking done before the season though? Or am I mistaken. I know there’s re-tracking next year and 2027 but that first shipment is massive compared to the other two.

It was covered on pages 37 and 38 of this topic. Prefab track for El Toro.

Yeah all those intamin shipments were for Toro, when the track arrives it should be fairly visible as Green Lanterns plot appears to be the staging area.

I do have to say I’m getting worried looking at the expectations from both those who are enthusiasts and just those on great adventure pages. It’s getting ridiculous and this giga blitz rumor isn’t helping. I’ve seen nothing to suggest this is actually the new coaster, the timeline is too quick, the relationship between corporate and Intamin is too damaged, and the cost is too high.

Really hope these other worldly expectations don’t come back to hurt the park.
